When was the last time you saw 101 ride a bike let alone a 450... What did he go like 6 8 at Glen Helen in 2008...

He went 6-32 with a blown motor. He was third fastest that day too. He started in about 7 and was moving through the pack the whole 1st moto and was catching Ferry for 3rd but went down in the said section with about two or three laps to go.

JLaw should be in there if so.

+ Cairoli
Bubba
RV
Barragan and right now Nagl is pretty fast

There are about 10 factory guys in MX GP all a similar speed plus about Bubba RV Reed Alessi and Grant in the states

You cant rate this as easy as that. On certain tracks and different conditions it will vary drastically. Cairolli has to be up there whatever conditions and Nagl is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.

These are mine out of the guys that we have seen race THIS YEAR. And the question was the fastest MX rider, i'm presuming this can mean for one lap, which is why Reed got in over Grant.

Ryan Villopoto
Tony Cairoli
Mike Alessi
Max Nagl
Jonathon Barragan
Chad Reed

If they are fast they are here. If they are fast and aren't here then they are fast but not smart.

The fastest may on a motorcycle has a number 4 on his car, darn it.

never got to understand that........isn't the point of racing finishing in front of the competition...????? isn't qualifying a part of the practice sessions before the race...????
every body here talks about the fastest, but i dont see the point on being the fastest qualifier, doing the holeshot and not matching it up with the finishing position........kinda like canard being always up front and then losing it to dungey or pourcel....doesn't he have to step it up and get the wins....?
isnt it all about winning...??????????

Phillipearts would easily beat Reed IMO, no doubt!
6/11/2009 8:48am
stewart
villopoto
alessi
Cairoli
Philipaerts
Seb Pourcel

some of them are injured but i made my list considering everyone at the top of their game

think the us guys dont need any explanation, but anyway:
Stewart kicked everyones butt last year and pretty easy
Villopoto was doing the same this year but not quite as dominant
Alessi just won by miles last week

for the Euro's:

Speedwise, cairoli is the fastest in europe right now
Pilipili (aka philipaerts) is current champ and 2nd fastest in Europe at the moment.
Pourcel was damn fast last year and was threathening Stewart (ok not for long, but still) at the MXDN last year.

I dont know why people try and pretend Pourcel had Stewarts number at Donnington last year. Sure he was giving him some stick for a few laps and I for one was loving it (rooting for the underdog is a common trait in us English). But about half way through the race Stewart cleared off and left Pourcel basically cruising around on his own when he gave up the fight. The fact that he wasn't afraid to pass Stewart and ruffle his feathers for a few laps was great, it was probably the first time Stewart had been passed all season, but I don't think that should gloss over the fact that Stewart should really have won his class that day.

Up until the des Nations Seb Pourcel hadn't exactly set the GP's alight like his younger brother and he hasn't done anything spectacular since then either, so I don't think I would necessarily even put him in the top ten 450 riders.

A great debate that will rage on for years. LOL Good topic. One that I honestly dont have an answer for.

Would they be racing in the US? Or in Europe? In the sand? Or on clay? How about wood chips?

All I know is this year's MXdN should be a good one. The Italian team of Cairoli, Philly and Guarneri will be fast against Stewart, Grant and Dungey. Especially with it being their home event.
