Yes, absolutely. I’m sure that was his only thought process in keeping 14

Seely was pissed Dylan took 14 because he thought it was going to be assigned to Justin Cooper since Cooper had asked Seely about it.

Because of that Seely told the AMA he was releasing it after announcing his retirement.

Ferrandis and Cooper had both finished top 10 in combined points, so they were both eligible to pick a 2 digit career number. Since Dylan had more points the AMA asked him first if he wanted to take 14 as his career number and he said yes.

Seely had a hissy fit over it because Dylan didn't ask him for it.

What madness. You cant own a number. It's just a random number that means different things to different people.

I mean he just wanted to give justin the number. What other "legendary" requests did he have? It's kind of the right of passage to ask a long term career guy for their number out of respect. I'm not saying seely is a legend by any means but still a career factory 450 guy his whole career is pretty impressive. No wrong by Dylan at all, he scored more points he gets first pick, fair is fair. I really don't think seely gave that much of a f'k.

Seely seems pretty cool, but if he got upset with DF about that, seems pretty petty. Anyhow, who would you rather run your number, someone that is going to win championships or someone that is going to win a race or 2 a year and bring their dog up on the podium??

Wanting a factory Honda for life seemed like a stretch also

I mean, how long did Seely even have #14? I still associate that number with KDub more than Seely.

That's a stretch of a statement. I think he wanted support as in being an ambassador rather than absolutely nothing, which he got.

I don't understand the downvotes on this, I don't think he wanted a factory bike to play around on, he was pretty forthcoming in his posts complaining about it. He pretty much said he wanted to be an insta-ambassador for Honda doing builds and free riding. Whether you think he deserved it or not, at least be accurate.

Also, someone else pointed out Ferrandis may be waiting for Baggett to retire in a year or two so he can take #4, his old GP number. I believe you can only switch your career number 1 time.

That’s true, but you can’t tell me it won’t be strange to see someone else run 22 one day, or AP running 7 on blue..

It won’t be. It was used before then and will be used after them. You guys are really sentimental with who you associate a number with.
