These shocks came on this 1979 RM400 I bought from a friend. Like the Fox Air shocks they have internal springs. These though are KYB brand. The Fox have two air chambers with high and low pressure, these only have one air chamber. I was just wondering if anyone else has these or knows much about them.

I have heard those work quite well. They also offered a complete fork/triple clamp combo like Fox and Simon's did as well. Billett triples and billett lower legs, trick stuff for the day.

We'll put you on it. For me, not enough weekends in a year.

Yeah, I remember those from back in the 70's. I keep thinking that some of the factory guys (Howerton and Schultz ?) may have used them at one time, but I'm not sure.

Thanks guys, While I've got your attention here's what a friend of mine Matt K. did to his 200 in E. TX the other day. Hit a downed tree really hard he did not see because of the dust. Look at the stem. Didn't want to put it on the front page.

Just bruised a bit he said. A good thing, he said when our friend that was leading came back and looked for him. He rode right past him on the trail and did not see him. He finally came back again, but they were like two hours getting back to camp.

I spent 6 weeks in a hospital bed modifying a triple clamp like that.

I had a set on my 79 RM 125N. I still have the service manual from when I rebuilt them.

The KYB fork & shocks were sold through DG Performance back around 1979...In fact Hannah used the forks that year, which apparently worked quite well even through they were only 38mm at a time when the factories were using like 41mm forks. I've also seen these shocks on ebay from time to time (a pair can be had for a decent price).

They were the top of the line shock back in the day. Pricy at that time, but great units .
