the 250 class in usa is the toughest series, i think the top 10 is way harder to get in outdoors than in mxgp, still i think some of the young kids in mx2 could be in us fighting for it and there is some top 20 guys there also ....but i think that it is easyer to see racers come from way deep in first lap to top in america, in mxpg you dont see that so often.......
i also think that the 450 class in america should be tougher......being the prime class of american motocross it should not be possible for brown or deitrich to come and top 5, factory riders should be up front every race, rookies should have much more dificulty to be at pace and there is a lot of good riders out like stuwart, windham, villo, langston, townley, hepler , etc........i guess deepdown even the most patriotic american fans must be a bit disapointed with the 450 class, there arent that many figths up front, it is not as intense as it should for the american championship....

The problem over here is, that by the time many riders move up to the 450, they are quickly getting burned out. It's not fun to race unless you can get into the top 5 consistantly.. Over here you either start making some improvements or you just get out, it costs too much to be floundering outside the top 10 in the 450 class....
In the GP's I see same old riders riding for years and years and still just barely making to the top 20..Just seems weird to me. We obviously don't have that kind of small team support history that you have in Europe (which BTW is being slowly destroyed by youthstream, I noticed only 27 MX1 guys lined up this weekend!)...
If needed I am sure we could scrounge up some more quality 450 riders to make that top 5 thru 20 more exciting...lol.. but unless your still young and have some upward potential, it's sometimes just not worth it.
every thing is looking more professional and the teams and sponsors are getting a lot more exposure now, but its much more dificult for the private riders to step up from national championshps to the mxgp. but now they are implementing an age limit for the mx2 and a one title defence chance rule which might be the way to imrove the mx1 particitation......still there is a lot of mx people that dont agree with the luongo way.....
btw....mickael pichon is one of the great mx riders of his time, he showed that in the mxgp and in america, too bad the american honda deal didnt work.....still he won again in europe, won in the enduro world championship, won in supermoto, won beach races and is retired from the mxgp only because of his long time injurys that dont allow him to get top racing form..............
IF Alessi is out (knee) i'm sure all the JS7 should not ride haters will now change there mind
MX1 = Stewart OR Short
MX2 = Dungey
MX3 = Grant
Here's a crazy, but potentially good idea. Put Dungey on the 450 (remember, he finished on the podium last year in supercross on the 450 in only his second ride, and did some considerable testing last year in the off-season on one) and bump in Canard who's getting faster week in and week out to MX2. Grant is a great rider, but has been known for inconsistency in the past (crashed at Texas for a 3-25 finish!), while Short has been steady as a rock for two consecutive seasons.
Ultimate question is, do we rely in a rusty Stewart to carry the banner or turn it over to someone else who has been racing the entire summer?
MX2-Dungey
MX3-Short (teams need a good consistant rider. TF15 proved that)
What if they decide to race for Puerto RIco????
i know he is great and respect is speed, but i also respect the value of the other and they are not going by foot.......
being real about mx, i dont think james can win with an sx bike and without being in race shape, the others are not that bad..!!!!!!!!!
we all have seen that he as issues when put under big presure and having his countries hope on his unprepared shoulders should be the most presure he will ever have.......
any mx fan, even american, must agree that only if he races 4 or 5 outdoors, get the bike set-up dialed in, get race shape, and than he can go and probably win.......
Pit Row
Rusty Stewart? Who the heck is that?
Ohhhhhh...That Rusty Stewart! The guy that showed up at Glen Helen last year with a new knee and even won a few races. I wouldn't rely on that guy...he's rusty.
Course the Brit team will be ready to kick ass.. lol
On paper we (Great Britain) had a good team last year; Mackenzie, Searle and Simpson, but some bad luck. If Simpson returns to his winning ways before the end of the season and Billy learns not to crash when running top 5 we could still have a decent shot of the podium.
The problem with a USA team consisting of Dungey, Short and Grant is that none of them have MXdN experience. Have any of them even ridden outside of the US? I wonder if that might count against them.
The way things are going I wont be surprised if the US decides to pull out for 'economic' reasons anyway.
Plus if the US did lose the trophy it would probably be a hollow victory, not to mention dismissed by the US fans.
Stewart is the fastest right now.
Grant is the best Placed American rider in the AMA series
dungey is a no brainer on his rmz 250
Every victory in the US is hollow because RC isn't there and the GPs because Everts isn't there....oh wait...they retired...well, it's hollow because Hannah isn't racing...oh wait...
It's racing. The guys that line up each week are bad ass riders and the one who wins deserves respect.
I know the folks that attend the MXoN want to see Stewart because he's amazing, but he is SX only. I think the team gets chosen from guys racing MX. If Stew wants to race a few races and put his mark on this season...then ok by me. Otherwise, you pull from the guys on the track.
