I haven’t seen enough consistency from Kay to warrant moving up yet.
I agree with you, another EMX250 season won’t hurt him to much.

I think it’s more off a team related thing, other wise they needed to sign someone for one year, they didn’t wanted to go that route and moved Kay over a bit earlier.

I also think it would've been healthy for him to stay down and do one more EMX250 year. Then maybe race MX2 on weekends when there isn't the EMX250 class.

Didn’t you know it’s all about getting them to MX2 as soon as possible now. But I agree with what’s been said, another year in EMX250 the move up.

And people thought a year ago it was quick to move him from 125’s to EMX250 for this year. The kid rode 85’s 2 years ago, wonder what the rush is.

It seems like they they have the plan to simply move him up if he is capable of structurally running in the top 5 to top 3.
They did it in 125cc and now again in emx250.
Normally i would think it's insane to move up that quickly, but well Kay is getting results. I have no idea what his ceiling will be but without injuries i do think he will be performing pretty well in mx2 next year.

Any word on Walsh for 21? I know he mentioned coming back to the states after mxgp but his results may have earned him a ride, lots of potential being shown

Moving De Wulf up is a sound plan, he know has a good crack ar MX2 instead of having another year doing the same thing.. Same applies to Hofer.. blood them in EMX and bring them up if they shine, else 2 years in EMX125 then 2 in EMX250 eats into an MX2 carreer. Especially if they end up too big for a 250 at 20.

Not quite, Jed ages out at the end of 2021.

Kay just needs to not crash and he'll be golden, couple tough rounds of EMX250 recently. If he can finish the year strong he'll come out swinging next year. He's only just turned 15.

Really? I thought Beaton got 2 seasons left (21/22).

Kay is amazing for his age, if everything works out fine he will be a contender for wins in a few seasons and still has a long GP MX2 career left..

Heard that rumor also, would be a great move on both sides!

Great for Mattia to get a Factory shot and for DiCarli a great move to pick up the hottest Italian prospect in years.

Alberto Forato is the hottest Italian prospect for years, he needs to be on a 450 though ... can you say 'Italian Desalle'

Heard rumors of Forato and JM Honda for MXGP so who knows...

I agree and think he will be better on 450 like Desalle and Jasikonis...

Source?

Watson has been very keen to stay in the Yamaha family, but its also known that he was trained by Jacky Vimond in 2018, who is now with Kawaski, and Vimond rates him highly ( while not doing the hiring) so i can see it as a possibilty, while a satellitte Yamaha deal with Gebben or SM Action is more likely.

Desalle on the other hand is now in the same situation as Paulin, where you know what you are going to get , and it isnt anything better than they have already done, and it will cost you a pretty penny,

Also Nathan Watson is signed already in MotoBlouz for the Beach series, and Insta comments of him on the 2021 Honda 450 hint at MXGP possibilies.. remember he was solid performer aged 22 on a 450, before going KTM enduro . And he is certainly a better investment than Guillod , who IMO has peaked.

With Desalle, Paulin, and Tonus all free agents, they will need to adjust their money expectations to stay on a good ride in the class.

Benistant with Kemea Yamaha for 2021 MX2 World Championship, alongside Geerts and Renaux.

What does Coldenhoff's latest injury mean for his prospects? I can't see Yamaha wanting to take a risk without seeing his recovery and if he will be the same rider he has been the last year or so.

You can expect Coldenhoff to have signed a contract a while ago. Mx tends to officially announce the contracts when the current contract is expired, but the new contracts have been signed a long time ago. At least for most at the top.

Imo it has more to do with what Themrtoad allready mentions: AJ's recovery.
Signing a 3rd guy gives AJ all the time for his recovery without the team having to worry they only start with one guy.

To be honest, that's also the only reason i'd sign Bogers as a 3rd rider if i'm factory Husqvarna. He has been doing good lately, but good for a non-factory team, not as in that is the guy the factory needs to make a 3rd ride available for.

This makes a lot of sense.. 2 riders to fulfill contractual obligation and space for AJ when he is able to return.
