It's a 2018.

My guess is that all these "old bikes" are bikes that they bought when Mookie was going his privateer route and testing different bikes.

What happened with MCR? I guess there was a big fallout but why?

He won’t give up the Seven gear so that’s really limiting him with getting a ride.

Yeah, I'd like to know what happened at MCR as well. Seems Malcolm was happy their, and they were happy with him. Maybe we'll never know for sure.

Seven is a family business, or it seems to be. I think Malcolm in invested in it, and we know James is hugely as well. I think it's a loyalty thing.

I'm with your guess on bike choice. If no-one is giving you a bike, you ride what you got. Seat time on a 2 year old bike with low hours makes little difference to a latest model in the big picture. Sure a replica of your race bike is the best thing, but if you don't have a race bike and don't know what your race bike is going to be, I'd be riding a KTM too with so many teams and rides on a near same thing these days and play injured rider lotto. As much as that sucks getting a ride only because someone got hurt.
