I personally think it's an interesting question, because I noticed it too. I'm not religious, but I'm a big fan of free speech. It would be pretty lame if somebody made the call that the name had to be changed. How ridiculous is that type of crap getting?

My money's on the network.
It probably took them off guard last week, and had them not say it this week.

It's funny how it never bothered anyone in all the years they have been there.

Same here. I’m not a religious person, not a “believer” or anything, but if it’s called the Ten Commandments, then let’s let free speech do its thing please.

There is a beautiful irony in people saying the network must use a certain name, otherwise it’s an impingement on free speech.

If we get to Red Bud and they call Larocco's Leap "the big jump" then we can just assume that NBC is trying to dumb things down to the most casual of fans. I'll go ahead and call it that that's not going to happen.

What irritates me about this is that someone complained. Someone actually got to a point where they complained to another person. It could have been an atheist offended by religion or it could have been religious person offended that a revered religious icon was being used to describe motorcyclin jumpdy doos.

The end result was just so damn annoyingly petty and small.

I am a Christian, and thought it was really cool that they got the nickname "The Ten Commandments". It made me chuckle, and I figure God laughs about it too.
He is, by the way, a huge motocross fan Smile .

I know Davey is very picky about wording and not saying or using certain words in Racer X. So the fact they have been the 10 Commandments for so long tells me, "IF" they where told to change it, it would be the network.

So it got said and people were offended
Then it wasn't said and people were offended
Then people were offended that people were offended that it was or wasn't said

What a world to live in

Wasn't "Screw U" changed to "The Wall", or "The Face" something like that, for broadcast?

According to the late George Carlin, you can widdle down those ten commandments to two. 1) Honor thy person who supplies thy nookie and 2) Thou shall try really really hard not to kill anyone.......unless they pray to a different god than you.
In all seriousness...I feel like this fits into the category of, If you're looking for a problem, you'll find one. What if they named that section, the ten baby disciples of jesus....would that make some of you feel better?Dry

So when The Masters is played at Augusta later this year, what are the announcers going to call Amen corner? Maybe the ‘sphincter corkscrew corner?”

Leave the names of things alone, the names are not derogatory in either case.

I just think its pathetic that someone made the call... i guess we can say goodbye to the Holy Schmit too. I wonder if Matthes will pick it up.

Out by me a favorite park entrance to our lake had its name changed from what I always knew as a kid to "Folsom Point". Apparently, since it can be spelled either way, Dyke 8 was too offensive to some people...

"Just north-west of Sacramento in the suburb of Folsom is the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, actually a reservoir with surrounding park. The southern end of the lake is contained by a series of dams and dikes. At the south-east end of the lake is the earthen Mormon Island Dam, also called Dike Eight."

What's more " Karen "...........
1.) Asking / demanding that something gets the name changed?
2.) Asking why was a the name changed after being called something for decades?

You're right. The people who asked to get the name changed are the biggest " Karen's " out there.

Pingree's KKK joke is more offensive than the "Ten Commandments."

3. Going on an Internet forum to complain about something having it’s name changed, whining about impingement day on freedom of speech, censorship and the PC world gone crazy.
All without any actual knowledge of why the name was actually changed for the broadcast.

Definitely 3.

Was Larocco’s leap name changed because of PC reasons? Was that an impingement of free speech? Was that censorship?
Or do television producers sometimes just dumb down a sport too much for television?

That’s literally not the point at all.

If this way of thinking and censorship is continued It will be a matter of time until Henry’s hill is an example of the patriarchal society and it needs to be renamed the, “Hill of equal opportunity.”

The fact that there was no problem with "Story land" or "water works" kinda shows that the problem didn't stem from a TV producer just wanting to stop the section names being called out. It's clear why they did it. It's just frustrating that no one will man up and be open about their reasoning.

The fact is, censorship has the exact opposite effect of it's intentions. If you are religious and believe in the 10 commandments, what better way to bring attention to them? We are all chatting about what was censored, and it's at the forefront of our conversation.....therefore, it would seem that there's no need to worry about the reasoning of their censorship...1) It didn't work. 2) People who are offended now have a platform, that they wouldn't otherwise have, to share their support/beliefs in the censored subject. Think of CR22 holding up his helmet with a blacked out logo and saying, "and I want to thank these guys too, you know who you are!"...shortly thereafter CBDMD was a sponsor of the entire series...go figure.

Sounds like a pretty " Karen-ish " way to look at it. Why not just leave the name alone in the first place? The " Non-Karen's " never had a problem with the name. It got changed , because the real Karen's of the sport got offended. Let's be real here. You can twist words around all you like. I made my point , and that's it.

Well, I suppose now we know who complained about the name of it in the first place.....

Jeffro nailed it in his post IMO. You missed the mark.

I'd love to hear from Davey himself.

How did you get that I would complain about the name from my post?
I couldn’t give a toss about the name, I’m not religious, so certainly would not be offended.
I was pointing out that we don’t know why it was changed, and I think it’s pretty “Karen” to jump on an Internet forum to sook about something when no one knows why it was changed yet.

But apparently maybe it was a “liberal female” “cancel culture” “nazi germany” blah blah blah
