Local dealer said they can get me a '21 KX250 less than MSRP. The lady on the phone was even like "MSRP $8200? Nah we'll sell it way lower than that". Never heard that from a sales rep before... I told her to put my name down I want the new KX.

The hydraulic clutch and KTM style Belleville clutch spring should be interesting. I wonder how it will feel compared to KTM. And 5 lbs. more is low and centrally located weight for the E-start, it's gotta be.

She said "last I heard 3-4 weeks". Hopefully soon.

I am a big fan of not buying the first year of cars, bikes, etc. Getting the second year of a generation helps remove some of the small issues. I would go with the YZ for that reason.

I would normally agree however both bikes are new this year. In addition, there is no ground breaking tech to worry about on the KX. Engine is a tweaked version of last years motor, frame is a tweaked version of the 450 etc. Nothing really unproven to worry about.

buy whatever you feel better about...

Personally i love the way my YZ250F feels.. i can carve this thing anywhere.. people struggling to turn this bike probably have their sag off.. turns on a dime for me and super stable through ruts, doesnt ever want to pick up out of the ruts.. corner speed has improved greatly due to having to carry more speed through ruts or i fall over because of how good the lean in is on this thing...

But that could all be a bunch of BS and the bike just fits my style? IDK.

Really curious also. I’ve called several dealers in Texas and neither Yamaha or Kawasaki have a date

For me it would come down to how long I planned on keeping it. If only two or three years, I'd really want to try to Kawi. I've had my Honda for ten years now and if I thought I might have it for that long, then I'd take the Yamaha.

Just spoke to mine. They’re still saying august, prior years she said they always show up after lorettas. This dealer is in with team green and has more pull than a regular dealer and I’ve had a deposit on it for quite a while

I'm in the same boat! Just sold my 17 yz450 and thinking about going back to a 250f. I really liked the fit and finish of my YZ plus it was a super solid bike. My 15 kx250f was also a great. I never could really gel with the handling of my YZ. I tried everything. I eventually got it to handle okay but it always felt like a pig in the corners. Seems like the newer generations bikes are better but the general opinion is they handle "decent" and still feel like the previous generation models to a certain extent. That leads me to maybe the new kx or a 21 crf250

I can assure you a new yz250f would handle leaps and bounds better than your 17 450, and feel a lot lighter as any 250f would comparatively. I just rode my buddies 2020 last weekend and it’s a damn good machine all around. Personally I’m going with the kx over the yz because I feel the ergonomics will be more comfortable, and want that stronger mid to top end.

The only non Yamaha 250F I had was a 2012 KX250. It was a great bike. Only problem I had was the oil filter bolt stripped, even though I knew it was a bad design and always under torqued it. Other than that it was great, and Yamahas have issues too, so I don’t think reliability is that different across them. Both 21 bikes should be awesome, just pick whatever one gets you more juiced when you look at it!

I’m waiting on the 22 Honda, but yeah, all the 250s are pretty great now, minus the Suzuki

Ill be getting a 22 Honda as well. I think the RMZ is a good bike and has a low cost. Several did well at Lorettas last week.

It’s a good platform. If you plan on doing some motor work, clutch, ecu, and boingers. It becomes a really good bike. With that said, the Yamaha with its suspension out of the box, as well as the best engine is really hard to beat. If you throw a vortex on that and get more rpms and power up top it’s amazing.

I spoke to a few dealers this week and they are all saying the same thing. Just sometime in August. At this point I am a bit doubtful it will even be August if they don't have a shipping date yet.

We were originally told last Friday it would be in.
