I know his latest videos are play riding, and I'm not sure if it's because of the lack of pressure of "the grind" or whatever, but Cole seems faster and much more aggressive than Im used to seeing him from his Honda days. He went from silky smooth Kdub to animal RV

Cole has always ridden better with no pressure. I’m not insinuating that he isn’t good under pressure, but when he’s comfortable, he can really showcase his abilities. Always had great riding style

They did it at one of the rounds last year, it was awesome watching the race from that view....

It wasn't a drone. It was an helicopter cam at Red Bud.

Could be a safety issue with the drones... I've seen at least one video of a rider colliding with one in mid-air, and it caused him to go down (i think it was in Brazil).

I bought a DJI Mavic 2 Pro with intentions to try to turn it into a fun side gig. I felt that it would be a cool new direction of moto content that not many were trying until recently. This drone is a professional cinematic drone, and not really meant for this type of flying in close proximity to terrain and stuff. I wanted good quality footage and knew it could hit the speeds of motocross riders here, so i took a chance.

Anyways, it didnt really take off much. I made a few neat instagram edits but it never really got popular. Maybe its just me. I thought they were pretty rad. Anyways, figured I would share a few. All the footage in these clips is flying the drone and recording manually.

Great work... like I said in an earlier post, for years I've been wanting to see them being used at the Nationals. I can't be the first to have that idea; if I had to guess it may have already been considered or tested by the AMA, and rejected for some reason (maybe safety). It's a great perspective, similar to (but much better) than the spider-cam in SX, or that great shot they use at Daytona every year with a UTV carrying a camera along the front straight, following alongside the riders. Something about a camera moving at the same speed, and closer in proximity to the rider... very cool.

The limiting factor is the flight time. This particular drone wont last a 30min plus 2 without having to land and do a battery swap. Maybe land during a commercial break real quick? haha

You really ought to consider doing a sort of feasibility study, employing a drone (or drones, have a second drone pilot takeover with his drone when the battery gets low on yours) in a race situation. Practice at a local track (when there aren't any riders present) to figure out the best and safest path for the drone, while providing the best coverage. Then, get a couple of riders on the track to dice it out, trading position, etc, and follow them for a few laps, see how it turns out. If it shows promise, start knocking on doors... AMA, NBCSN (maybe at the next National close to you, seek out the director or production manager, might be difficult to get a hold of somebody there via email). Sorry to keep harping on this, but drone coverage for the Outdoors has been a soapbox of mine for a while now!
