Ferrandis is an exception, i've been a fan ever since his GP days. The rest of the team? Not a fan at all. I had no problems with Nichols before the previous round but the move on Sexton changed that.
Star racing or who ever calls the shots there sounds like the problem.

My second reaction is that you need to relax and not take this stuff so personally. It's just racing. You're not a team sponsor or anything like that.
This is like saying you refuse to own a Mercedes Benz because Hammy and Bottas engage in team tactics. They all do.
There's team tactics in moto, may not be as blatant or obvious, but when it gets down to a close points chase at the final round, every team has, does, or will engage in team tactics. This isn't new or unique to Geico or Star.
Yamaha Japan, where your bike came from, has nothing to do with the day to day operations of Star Racing or race day tactics. Yamaha's instructions? "Win. Bring us back the title."
Think of it this way, if a team, ANY team, did not try every single idea or tactic possible to win a championship when it's all on the line, without cheating, did they do everything they could do to win that championship?
Not really.
Lets say they won the protest, is that really how you want to win a championship?

No dramas with relaxing here, it was a rant that I thought would cast more thought on who actually makes these calls at Star that casts this sort of reputation of a team that people find hard to root for. I love the bike, still love the brand, but I hate that Star are representing it in a petty, childish way.
When I am at the track, there are as many blue bikes as any brand. Do you honestly think that anyone there is looking at a rider on a Yamaha and thinks less of them, because of some questionable team tactics from a pro team? It ain't that real, bro. Lol.
PC had a long run at delivering great engines now Star has found something you lable it a mini 450. That is a awesome compliment to the Star engine guys.
As Dave said above, there will be tactics and there are rules and regulations in place to facilitate protests. Absolutely nothing out of the norm with protesting.
Like I said before, Star ain't gonna pull a reason to protest out of their arse.

but 2 questions for you:
Why bother with sponsors or professional racing if none of it Really matters?
Why do sponsors often pull their support from sportsmen when they get caught doing shit that is deemed socially unacceptable?
I also have no involvement with either team
That said, if someone believes a competitor is cheating, regardless of what it is, they have, as per the rules, the right to file a protest.
Are there varying degrees of cheating? Is one type of cheating, though against the rules, acceptable?

In my mind, there isn't "a little cheating" and a "lot of cheating"
Cheating is, cheating.
Whether its fuel, bore or weight (much of which seems to be rarely even checked any more), if it doesn't meet the rules outlined in the rulebook, it's cheating.
That's me, I get that. That is how I see it.
Every other racing organization has DQd racers or teams for fuel infractions, and if the racing org isn't taking it upon themselves to do the testing on their own, and you have the right to question it, why not ask (protest) something if you feel its no right?
Also, if my gate pick is before yours, because I out-qualified you, I can pick whatever gate I want. And from my understanding of the rules, I don't have to choose the same gate every time and you can't "save" a gate before I choose mine.

As far as your questions, I sorta see what you mean but I don't think it's quite on that level. Sponsors are on the bikes for exposure. No sponsor is going to pull support because of anything that just happened. They want to see their bike win. I would say even if a team was doing something unacceptable on a much larger scale (I have no idea what that could be) then to me, it still doesn't change whether I ride or buy that brand. I'm sure if it was bad enough, that manager would be fired or there would be some kind of punishment to the people involved. So again, 1 team/ guy / instance doesn't define a brand, in my opinion.
