Watching without a leader board or announcers really magnify the fact that you can't tell who is who. The little numbers are tough to read. Watching at the track would be dificult.

Last week at Glen Helen at the race, you could only tell who the riders were if you knew who they were. Dizzy

The problem of the euro-fication of the Nationals was really magnified when the sound was down at the beginning of the broadcast. I couldn't even begin to figure out who was who after the start.... when the sound came back it was easier listening to them calling the race. This really needs to be fixed!!

It's been interesting to see gear companies like Thor and Alpinestars starting to incorporate rider numbers onto the pants...though RV and Mike Alessi are already two of the more easily identifiable riders.

So far the numbers are a bit on the small side. I can ID most of the guys pretty easily, but it does get harder with the PC and Geico Powersports Honda guys.

You would think the riders would do more to make sure they are recognized. You could spot RV a mile away in that red gear.

A scoring pylon like they use in SX would be nice. Maybe have the top 10 listed on it. A good place for signage that you know people will look at, too.

I can identify all the riders easily too... but for the average fan, theyre screwed.

What gets me is that the teams are running the small numbers, but aren't actually taking advantage of the new found extra space.

Case in point:



You can't even see the Pro Circuit logo!

Same with Suzuki's. They've made the numbers smaller just so that they can put "Suzuki" on the side plates. I guess they feel the fact that they're riding bright yellow bikes isn't enough to clue the fans in as to what brand of motorcycle it is.

i agree. ive been in daytona all weekend and went to hooters to catch the race, and with no sound it was tough as hell trying to decipher the riders.

Not to mention a numberplate doesnt look right with tiny numbers on it. If this rule sticks around I bet we will see sideplates get smaller and smaller. Which they already have been in the last couple years.

Having a jumbotron would've helped, especially for Qualifiers. Couldn't hear anything as usual even though we were at the finish line and the victory stand until the bikes stopped running.

The sport is finally getting some mainstream media and they pick this year to make it imposible to tell who the riders are. Fix the problem NOW not next season!

They ought to eliminate all numbers ,front included. They have transponders for scoring, might as well use the front plate for goofed up looking graphics as well. Screw the fans.

I actually had to do a "Shaheen" and refer to certain riders by bike color to the girlfriend.
