That'd be my guess too, probably realized that both him and Tomac got mediocre starts and decided to play it safe.

The same thing that happened to Roczen. Eli was on his game and had so much room to spare, that after going down, the risk/reward calculation just didn’t add up.

The track was a slippery ass mess and he and Kenny just threw in the towel once it was obvious that Eli had it in the bag.

Did anyone watch the race? Webb was down in the first turn. I'm sure once he started moving forward he got info where Tomac was and then just shut it down. Roczen was in great position on lap and then washed out in the turn before the SX triple.

And as predicted, that track was not that good for racing....

He got up to Ken fairly quick, and then stalled. I'm guessing he did what had to, to lock in 2nd in the points while not risking much at the same time.

No worth getting injured on a crapped out track.

Once Webb went down, any chance of winning was over. At that point just be safe and move on. Second place wasn’t going to help him

All he had to do watch catch and follow Roczen to pick up 2nd in the championship. After he went down in turn 1...what else could he have done?

did you notice he quickly caught Roczen.

then a decision was smartly made (it seems).

go past Roczen and give him a chance for a take out. (even if Kenny isn't known for such a thing)

the smart decision is to follow this guy and ensure you get the check for second place in the series.

this did not seem very hard to figure out.

I thought he would at least try to catch Tomac and try to cause a mental mistake. I didn't think he'd overtly try to take him out, but I expected him to brake check him, take him a bit high in corners, etc. It was the only hope he had at the title, but obviously he knew that the math probably wasn't in his favor to get Tomac to crash AND to get up to at least 2nd.

I'm sure if he got a start he would have gone for the win. But to be that far back and nothing to gain, why risk injury with outdoors coming up?

There was no chance of him winning the overall so he followed Ken in for 2nd in points. Smart move.

Did the track crew just get tired of watering that day? That track was junk!

Not going to lie, when I seen that Webb wasn't up towards the front after the start I thought "That slick sum'bitch got a bad start on purpose because he was banking on Eli not getting a good start and riding conservatively and his game plan this whole time was to come from behind, catch up to Eli and punt him off the track!".......then I seen the replay where he went down in the first corner.

He slid out and knew he had no chance to win while also seeing Tomac in a very comfortable position so like Mav said, he mailed it in.

Odds of Tomac having some issue causing a DNF and he would still need to win
