Unless someone from Star slipped a little additive in their fuel storage as a backup plan... (don't take this seriously, please.) Also, what fuel is banned that would be advantageous to use? Higher oxygen content? Leaded fuel doesn't really make a difference for modern 4 strokes, does it?

Honestly, either way, most people will see Chase as the champion. He put it to Shane the second half of the Salt Lake rounds and was clearly the better rider, even though that Yamaha is for sure putting out more HP, even if the Honda has illegal fuel.
But Star would look really bad if there‘s nothing wrong with fuel.
Chase won
Dylon won

Star Yamaha is protesting Geico Honda on fuel
Everything else is just here say and bull shit.
It came down to the riders. I've been rooting for Shane as he has yet to win a championship. Sadly, he got beat. Sexton was simply the better rider when it counted the most.
As for the protest, Yamaha my have smelt a rat and decided to give it a shot. Red faces in the Yamaha rig if Geico's fuel samples come back negative for a violation.
Pit Row
I got to imagine that at this level of racing they are always playing on the edge. Example, let's say the legal limit is set to 100 (and that's just an arbitrary unit of measurement), then the fuel manufactures are going to shoot for 98-99.
What if Star was doing their own back testing and found some batches to be outside of legal spec, and knowing that Geico uses the same fuel they are hoping that maybe they didn't test it and ran some of those batches?
Again, just a theory
Just the fact that you referenced that absolutely nutty 'exhaust' thread makes me question your sanity!
HOWEVER, you have a rider saying on the podium that your bikes are TOO fast, and you then go an protest another team for fuel, which essentially says you think they won because their bikes were a little bit faster than they otherwise would've been. That's just shitty sportsmanship. I get it, rules are rules, there's big money at stake here, but Yamaha, Monster, Thor etc. should take note because this behavior doesn't sell product.
Even if Star is right, it'll leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth because we all know who deserves the title.
had illegal fuel and he threatened to leave the sport? His reputation wasn’t tarnished.
