If Honda is trying to evenly distribute weight by making two exhaust why wouldn't they just make one exhaust and use all the components used for E-Start like the Battery to counter the exhaust? Less money to manufacture and less weight overall.

Because that's not the main reason behind dual exhausts?

Because the weight distribution thing is a gimmick. They did dual exhaust for the look of it as a marketing gimmick.

Good point, I wonder if anyone has done a dyno on a current Honda with 1 exhaust compared to 2 exhaust.

So how much HP warrants that much extra weight?

MXA did one a while ago, the stock exhausts were in the top 3 HP numbers, single exhaust was not one of the top 3 ...go figure. Anyway it is all a moot point as the 2021 450 and (possibly) 2022 250 will be single exhaust

Top 3 HP numbers while adding more weight. Sounds like shooting yourself in the foot.

I can tell from your responses your mind is made up, but the answer isn't horsepower either. With two exhausts they can keep the decibels down without having a bazooka hanging off the back. They are tucked in tighter which leaves them less prone to damage, and it moves the weight forward. It's really not a big deal, just a difference way to approach things. I don't understand why people that have no intention of buying a Honda spend so much space on Vital complaining about dual exhausts.

You can tell from my responses Ive made my mind up? You obviously haven't read much of what Ive said or you put a false tone to my words. Im open to everything I just couldn't think of a legit reason for two exhaust. Less decibels? Tucked in tighter? My yz450 exhaust is tucked in good and is not as loud as most after market exhaust.

Your YZF exhaust does a lap around the cylinder first. I don't know what to tell you, other than I'm sorry Honda has dual exhausts.

You (and everyone that down votes me here) obviously own a Honda and I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings. Was just trying to make sense of the design. And when Honda comes out with the same design but with 1 exhaust for 2021 Ill be waiting for your response.

It’s just personal preference but they look a little over-engineered.

Didn’t the Phoenix Honda guys run the 250’s in arena cross with 1 pipe? It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember some discussion on that, and I think one of the riders, or team guys even popped in to help explain what was up with it.

Personally I don’t really have much of a preference one way, or another. I’ve rode a friends, and weight wise it really wasn’t noticeable to me. So I guess if I was in the market my main question would be is what you’re getting out of it worth the extra money you spend on it.
