WTF does it have to take to get NBCSports to ALWAYS have a camera on the race being shown on TV. Its ok to cut away to show a replay on a SPLIT SCREEN so we can see what happened, but for all that is love and holy stop cutting away from live action. I have not yelled this much at my TV in years. Seriously, WTF. Are these sport people not familiar with racing events? There's plenty of time after the live racing to show replays. And as stated, they can always split screen to show the replay. But never take the camera off of live action.

I sometimes think the entire production is being ran by interns. At my house there were two of us screaming at the TV. Horrible coverage.

no but if you had the misfortune of watching MNF youd hear Booger talking about everything irrelevant to football as the ball is snapped. Its just as bad but thankfully hes gone

I’ve worked in live TV for about 5 years and I have to agree with the directing. Horrible. Yeah I get some of you are just happy to have SX on TV, I’m with you but that is no excuse for a really crappy production. Hope they figure it out.

I am not so sure that you can compare the 2. Like Apples and Oranges. NFL plays action for like max 10 seconds then resets. Racing keeps going until the checkered flag.

My favorite is how we have to see slo mo shots of contact between riders from every camera angle at least twice.
I get that they are trying to make it dramatic and whatnot but I want to see the race.
There’s actually live battles going on and actual storylines playing out.
You feel like an editing pro? Fantastic, cut to this or that, hell let Ol Ralphie boy talk about gators or woodworking or some movie theaters I don’t care. But for the sake of Pete can we see the race please?

I will add that it would be great if they showed the battle to the finish line for qualifying in every heat and LCQ. Do we really need to see the 1st place rider cruise at 2mph on the way to the podium when the success of my fantasy team is dependent on a privateer sawing the front on off another privateer in the last turn for 4th place?

Can't believe it's so hard to figure out...or just have replays AFTER the race? Maybe some commentary/analysis about it when the racing is over. Can you imagine a NFL game where the replays are happening during the action? Cut out some of the fluff and save some time at the end of the broadcast for the review of the things that happened during the racing.

Was it the 250 LCQ that they cut away from the leader washing the front end to show a replay of another incident and then came back and showed us a replay of the leader entering the corner? Also RC going on and on about Forkners intent wishing he had knocked Ferrandis down and the same with the Webb/Eli first corner touch. Rc seems better at times but then he sets himself way back with a performance like last night. he was double clutching and stumbling over his words a lot. It's a total cluster at times but hey I'm just glad to have it on TV Wink

Yeah, coverage seems to be getting worse instead of better despite the constant observations offered by fans like us Vitards. I was incensed when they kept the camera on Jett Lawerence trying to pick his bike up and get going after his first turn get off following the holeshot while the fight for the lead towards turn 2 wasn't broadcast. I mean, this is hard to comprehend.

I think the most egregious thing I saw yesterday was at the start of I think the 250 main they immediately went to a close up shot of the leader only for a whole lap. While all the action is going on they are focused on one guy like he's riding a practice lap.

You mean like when there was 40sec left in the race a couple races ago and Eli was 1/2 sec back of Cooper challenging for the race win? Yet the production crew thought this would be a perfect time to cut from live coverage in favor of showing what? Cooper’s crash from Dallas(for the 3,827th time) not once but twice(the 2nd being in slow motion)?

Can you even imagine watching an NBA game with less than a min left and a team down by 2 and they cut away for 30secs?

Utterly mind boggling...

My question is instead of complaining to each other on vital, does anyone of contact info for upper brass of NBC Sports so we can collectively air our grievances with people that are empowered to do something about it? If so, I’d love to have that info posted...

Ive always thought a 2 hour delay would work best. Its why the 80’s had the best coverage, you can cut to replays and jump right back to the action. Fix announcing mistakes and what not.

Pretty sure they just found out about PIP (picture-in-picture aka split-screen) this season and man... do they LOVE IT. They had PIP going for almost an entire heat race yesterday. Yeah I get Ferrandis is the points leader but do we really need to see him riding around in 8th place, alone, for 75% of the heat race?

PIP is a tool you use sparingly!!
