Heard a tip from a guy in the industry that this stuff works great for grip tape.. 3M safety-walk slip resistant tape.. gray color. Black was too rough. This should help with traction, I can already tell.. God knows I need it on this beast.
It’s a rough, rubbery texture.. not like sandpaper or skater tape.

I realize now that I may have been wearing rose-colored glasses during this project because of how long it took me to get the old tape off. I spent an hour and a half scraping off some hard plastic crap I put on there years ago, and when I finally got done, I smiled with glee as I applied the brand new, fresh-as-can-be tape in its place. It was like putting on a new bike part!
I was so excited that I just had to share it with my friends at Vital. But the first comment made it clear I had definitely lost my mind. Along with the second, third, and fourth comments.
Ya’ll city folk value looks too much. Up here in Alaska, utility is the name of the game. My piston is fit tighter than your girlfriend ever was and my carb slide is smoother than her baby’s bottom. Priorities, people.
Oh, and to anyone wondering: this stuff works. You can get 15 feet for 12 bucks at Home Depot. Thank me later.
I’ll check out the grey stuff when I need to replace. Thanks for the tip.
It helps me stay in place and doesn’t tear up my pants, so that’s good enough for me.
And no, unfortunately 3M does not offer different colors for these treads. It’s only gray and black, each with a different texture/roughness.
