I assume bike issues, based on the report. I was actually impressed with him in the heat. He qualified straight in and looked pretty good. Bummer about the main. Hopefully better on Wed.

I don't know what happened to Friese, Ray or Bowers. Noren hurt his ankle, so that is probably why he quit racing the main event.

Chad admitted in an interview to Matthes that he pulled off for no reason earlier this season. It sure looked like that again. Maybe i'm wrong, so i should edit my post to "I think he quit again".

Look i want to see him on the track, the heat race was great! SX is better with Chad Reed racing.

He got lapped, probably tired.. said I’ve had enough. He is WAY off the pace, must be frustrating. CBD oil won’t help

This may just more than Reed will be able to handle. Even Barcia looked bad. Now multiply this by 2 races a week for 3 weeks. This is going to put a hurting on the riders. I feel bad for all the people who put in faith and effort into Reeds ride just to have him pull off after 5 laps. Hopefully everything is OK with him. He's good for the sport.

Chalk up another main though. Guy is a great example of love for the sport. I think we are all in agreement he's not in it for the money. He's got 6 more races and he has the wisdom to know how to handle his affairs.

I'd rather see him finish safe to race another day. If you are lapped there isn't much left to prove. He is plenty capable of making setup changes and coming back better.

99.9% of posters on Vital will NEVER make a main event in SX, the highest level of dirt bike racing on the planet.
He wants it bad enough to pay his own way, and pursue it rather than move on to the next stage in life.

Exactly. Did you see his heat race lap times. He was almost as slow as AP and Malcolm. Pathetic.

He's over it, he probably has more money than he can spend and I don't believe one second he's enjoying himself getting such terrible results for a rider of his caliber.
I think he's just lying to himself, chasing feelings and memories that are long gone... and really adding nothing to his legacy, to say the least.
More of a midlife crisis than a farewell tour...
I remember Windham's transfers with a smile, I won't keep any good memory from Reed's 2020 season, except the sad glimpses of somebody who can't admit his racing days have been over for a while.

It's not a good look. He earns his spot on the starting gate and can't finish the race. I don't want his image to get tarnished by coming off as a quitter. This isn't the first time that he's done this. I'm a Reed fan but at least finish the damn race

It felt good to be back racing yesterday. There is no comparison to racing in front of fans and the silence was weird. I felt like I had a decent day overall. Nice to get back on a race track. I really love riding this new bike and checked off the box to race SX on all brands. That wasn’t intentional or planned just happened to be the bikes of choice over the years. My starts feel better and more natural so now I just need to remember how to use them. I made a bad call on fuel choice yesterday. I had taken altitude into consideration but not heat. We boiled fuel pretty early in the main. So I chose the safe route. I pulled off because it wasn’t worth the risk. I was disappointed initially because I felt good on the bike but there is more racing to come. Our team has worked hard to be here. I have 1 mechanic @sheetmetal220 who handled a complete change in bike manufacturer and being ready in May instead of sept/ oct like originally predicted. He has learned to get it done no matter what I throw at him and mostly on his own. We have a small team but I’m really proud and happy to be finishing this ride with my friends and the sponsors we have. Thanks to the fans supporting from home! And we’ll be better and ready for the next one ✊🏼 @mountainmotorsports_ @cbdmd.usa @foxmoto @knobby @armasport @boostaus @oakleymotorsports @factoryeffex

Has anyone in here ridden a bike that starts to boil the fuel? It happened to me with MR12 and it was downright scary. Unpredictable and sputtering at random times. Like riding wide open and then just hitting the kill switch for a second, then letting go of it and the bike coming back alive. Great call on pulling in and able to race on Wednesday....

I disagree. I feel like Reed genuinely loves racing and generally dirt biking no matter what results he gets because he is a fucking beast that does not stop! Fucking legend
