So, after reading what is one of the best thread-comedies I've seen in here since the D-Davis days...I did my homework:
There are some VERY fast folks that run it on factory bikes.
There are different diameters available, too (Nice).

As to the price: At my company. We machine a lot of molds and parts. We have milling machines, Maker-Bots & SolidWorks. We pay an engineer A LOT of money to make sure all of it does what it's suppose to do and he -also- makes sure our machined parts turn out right. With that said and seeing the complexity of the machining and assembly...it's not expensive. I know what it costs to design, develope, test, make and market products like this guy's throttle tube. This is A LOT of material, machining & "precision product" for the money. Hell, the price of that bearing that goes in the "in-board end" of the throttle is expensive.

While we're talking about pricing and value..

I'm stunned at how many people, in here, have Chinese knock-off stuff on their bikes...
or...
$200 Hero-Replica Graphics with a $100 seat-cover...(Btw, I'm guilty of running the Hero Graphics...seat, too)
Cool Guy "Newer Model Plastic Update" Kits...(NOT Guilty!)
$200, $300...$800 foot pegs?! (I'm guilty...well, $240)
$1,200 Exhaust Systems...(Me? Guilty)
All the while they talk amazing madness about a part that's machined from aerospce grade aluminum in the United States by people that are actually making a pretty good living; but, of-course, this is the internet & they complain about the price.
Grinning (Ha! I'm NOT guilty of that one. I'm not bitching about the price)

I inquired with a couple of mechanics to see who's running them and what they now about it:
I was told it's bulletproof and it lasts forever.
The throttle action is precise & "velvety" (Not always the case with OEM and after-market plastic parts).

But...wait...there's more to it...because...Woohoo
Then we have the Throtle-Body Debacle...in here...on Vital. I'm sorry; but, that was and is truly a "STFU, Noob!" moment.
You should have known.
Even Jody over at MXA would Face-Palm that one.

Me? I think the whole thing is hilarious. Both sides of the issue have a valid set of talking points...and...it makes for some good reading, "thumbs up-n-down" and a real good laiugh or two.
So, "Thanks!" to most posters in here for giving me plenty of really good LOL's and making me go grab a beer...or two.

To the ZRT guys: I F'n hate you! Laughing
Why?
'Cause, now I'm buying one.
SHIT!

I blame Baggett & BoydEvil

Herd mentality or popular opinion ? I guess it depend on which side of the "holy grail" of throttle tubes you're on.

$180 is pretty spendy, especially with PC and Works Connection offering them for less than half the price. Plus, you have to cut up a set of handlebars to make it work. The bearing throttle tubes are nice, no denying that. But, with the advent of lock-on grips, it will be a tough sell. A brand new set of grips and (adjustable) throttle tube is a mere $20 bill.

Honorable mention for Jeff, he's trying his best to get a free throttle tube....a little brown nosing never hurt anyone.

I'm gonna straddle the fence here for a minute

When I started my biz, I didn't think anyone would pay the cost for my stuff. It was better (IMO), but costly...and now it's #1 in the biz.

The lesson learned? If it works and works better, people will pay for it.

That said, my membership in this group goes all the way back to the Fresh Dirt yellow board, and that was before I started this biz, so I had some history and a small amount of posting swagger with the gang when I started. Granted, the gang was a lot smaller back then, and if you think this group of assholes is a bunch of assholes, you should've seen how much more assholey it was back then...this is tame in comparison

Point is, don't go onto any forum guns a blazin' if you're trying to hump a product. There may have been some editing in this thread from when I read it, and that's fine, but damage was done with some folks. It'll be hard to get those folks back.

I am the last person who should be saying to keep your cool online, but you have to keep it cool online if people don't know you.

The interwebz can be your best friend in this biz, but can also burn you like you've been doused in gas and had a welding torch stuck up your ass.

Friendly and experienced advice

It’s actually a really sweet design. I used to use the pro taper Twister until i realized that i had to cut my bars to make them even. I get this throttle tube.......great design. It drives me nuts when i ride my buddies bikes and their throttle is nasty on the levers.....all grindy and shit. The extra bearing on the cam side are badass

100 percent. I have one. It’s actually too slick, if that makes any sense. I have thought of going back but I am still running it. I absolutely have inadvertently twisted the throttle due to chatter on the track and I have absolutely looped her out once due to a bad hop and more throttle.

I seem to have gotten used it. And it is very smooth. But it is very slick and can be dangerous for a beginner

I ordered the Pro Circuit throttle tube this week for my bike I think it was $60. Had I seen this thread first I would have ordered this one because the money doesn’t really matter to me.

I have never destroyed a throttle tube in 35 years of riding but these after market ones just seem to work better/smoother and seems to have less risk of hanging up.

Is it $100 better than a works connection one with the bearing? Theres the question, my tube is in no way difficult to turn in the slightest and been there for over a year...

Is it number one in the business? Not trying to be a dick. I have been using it for almost 10 years in all of my bikes.

I hope it works out better.. my PC tube wouldn't turn when the throttle housing screws were tightened and the same week, Cole Seeley was doing videos of his CR250 straight rhythm bike and had the exact same problem and couldn't make it work. The machining is way off. I talked to someone senior in the shop and not only wasn't going to help me after I showed him where the part needs to be machines thinner, this customer service genius called me a liar that other people such as Cole Seeley brought up the problem in his video. I was being nice, but accused me of trying to use their throttle tube in a cheap Chinese aftermarket housing.. even though I told him it was the original OEM housing on my RC250M build. He was an embarrassment to Mitch's company.. so at the end, I have a hunk of aluminum that I paid $65 for that is unusable and a few insults from the company to add salt to injury. I would be happy pay more for one that functions and for a company with good customer service.

I would steer clear of the PC throttle tubes.

Are you talking shit? BC Thats professional. Especially to me, who has patronized your company.

Did I talk shit? No. I was honest and hopefully my comments were helpful to someone. . That fucking thing is not for beginners. I have friends that won’t ride my bike BC it’s too smooth. I’m not a beginner by any means. And I crashed BC of that throttle in a rough harescramble. . Just the plain Ass truth.

I always wanted a second one for my other bike. But that won’t be happening now.

You want to dial in your product? Add a a preload or tension screw. Let us increase preload and therefore resistance. You’re welcome. Duecher

Haha, relax guy. I actually wasint talking shit. I was being truthful. It’s definitely different if your not use to it. So maybe I should put a disclaimer on it. “Not for pussies”. But you make it sound like getting use to it takes a month.
Which is not the case because you have gotten use to it now and were ready to order another until I “talked shit”. 😂

Whatever man. Send my shirt back if you hate it so much.

It is very free feeling. Which can be a compliment. It can also get you in trouble compared to the stock unit, especially at first
