The numbers are growing, so there isn’t anything weird about a day being bigger than the day before......

Is that really a difficult concept to grasp?

And just for clarity, they didn’t report that on Monday, they appear to be reporting that early Tuesday......
Originally reported on Monday and updated on Tuesday. I saw the article yesterday. It's just something I'm watching. We will see.
Obviously very late on Monday, since they were reporting the deaths that occurred that day. Hard to do that at 8AM.....

One thing that I am noticing is that our state's department of health coronavirus website seems to be maxed out right now. I tried 6 times to get to it over about a 5 hour period yesterday before finally being able to get to it. It looks like Washington is reporting actual updates every couple of days, not daily. All of their public facilities are closed right now as well.

My company laid off most of its employees yesterday in accordance with the governor's order. I filed for unemployment for the first time in my life, over 20 years working. Right now my focus is the health of my 3 week old daughter, my 2 year old boy and the rest of my family and friends.

Yep, layoffs a plenty going on around these parts too. Wishing you and your family well through this challenging time and congrats on your new daughter.

Hang in there Brother. As stressed as I would have been had my kids been around your age with this going down, but looking back I'd also do anything to have this kind of free time with them back then.

I can't even see them, or any other family right now. So it's just me, the Lady, and the cats.

I left my decent job at a luxury resort on the shoreline of Lake Tahoe on October 31 last year and immediately started the next week with one of Nevada's largest credit unions, mainly because I was over the commute from the valley 45 minutes away. I can't believe the timing on it now given that the travel industry is essentially on life support and I am now at an "essential" and fairly secure business. Times are still going to be rough because everyone is losing money, including our members, but I am beyond blessed that I made the move when I did.

Hoping the best for you all that we can get through this unprecedented time.

Thanks. I'm not too worried about finances, we don't have any vehicle payments and I'm pretty cheap all around. We've been operating on mainly essentials ever since we went to basically 1 income after starting the family.

I am very thankful to have some more time with the little one at this early point, there's nothing like it.

I'm confident that I'll go back to my job when things get going again. I'm just worried about everyone's health. We have a family friend who's whole family has it, she's a healthcare worker so she got tested and it came back positive. She said her kids didn't get it too bad, but it did a number on her, she's a healthy 31 year old.

Residential roofer here, the virus isn't much of an issue, but I have a feeling the economic impact will be. Today I got the bad news of finding out I need a new hip, all of the cartiledge in my right hip is gone and it's bone on bone. So now there is that to make things worse.

Same boat here. We both have elderly'ish parents, so it's turned into us literally pulling up to their houses, throwing shit out the window and driving off. Laughing

All kidding aside, it is really what we are doing so we can keep everyone safe. Yesterday was my Dad's birthday and none of us could go see him in Palm Springs so we all just facetime'd. It seems to be the new normal for a while.

Man, Mayor Garcetti (los Angeles) is lighting people up right now in this press conference for exercising in groups and non-essential business' still operating.

We are two steps away from being totally shutdown because people are stoopid.

While riding my road bike alone I saw so many people along the coast that were exercising together. Like standing arm to arm like a gym...wtf.

It's crazy. The Strand in Manhattan/Hermosa/Redondo was no different than a normal summer day. It was wall to wall people (I didn't go, but a friend lives close).

Quite possibly the most popular hiking spot in LA, Runyon Canyon, just got shut down. LAPD had to provide crowd/parking control because people were stopped on Mulholland waiting for a spot to park.

Just sucks for those of us doing our best to listen to the Doctors and Scientists and stay home, yet these fucks are just out and about like nothing is wrong.

I have a lot of unpaid invoices out that I don’t see getting paid any time soon lol. Girlfriend got laid off from her 6 figure job on Friday afternoon while working from home.

Buckling up for the next 6-24 months.

Information technology architect.

I do design and deployments for some of the largest corps/orgs in the world. I can tell you the one thing that is consistent at this point is they are all uncertain as to where this will lead..

Many of my large clients are delaying projects. One very large hospital we do a lot of work for lost their entire "help" desk due to WFH. Its a crazy time right now.

My wife is the manager of an R&D department for a large flavor company. They are also uncertain at this point as to what is going to happen so are scaling down.

I think many people have to make though choice between financial well-being and well-being of their loved ones in this situation. I can only hope we will find cure for this soon.

I work for a guy who owns a few rental properties, 30 years. It’s been me and one other guy for most of that time. My guy left in December and I have been working my ass off and trying to hire people for almost three months. Couldn’t fine any service techs. My boss finally agrees to let me hire two people. And this shit storm hits. We are not going into occupied units and I can’t get ahead. Had to put my two new guys down to part time. Sucks bad. I hated doing that. Stay safe!!

Oh Man, that's rough. The one thing I am doing is not looking at the news but for once in the AM and once around dinner just to check in. I think trying to get through this issue is being positive mentally, and the news entertainment we have now is not the answer.

Shit we even started doing puzzles, and neither of us even like them. Hahaha

Plumbing estimator/account manager here at a large plumbing company in central Tejas. Fortunately, we are still able to send out most of our guys to work (except for a few counties) and have a lot of the office staff working from home. We usually have about 150 people in this building, but last 4 days there has only been about 10 of us once crews head out. I am very, very thankful i am still able to work as my sister who lives in Oregon just had to shut down her salon and has zero income right now. Had a friend who just had sold everything and moved to Arizona to work at a race shop and both him and his wife are now out of work as they closed the doors. Tough times ahead Im afraid for a lot of folks.

I can say the one good thing i have noticed since this all started is i see a lot more families out and about in our neighborhood. Going for bike rides, walks, playing soccer, baseball, etc.... just spending more time together in general.

I was hoping to sneak by this shut down and continue to work because I'm in the construction industry, but no such luck. Washington just shut down all construction unless you are working on an essential public works project. Our schedule went from not great to nothing. The county I live in is going to get slammed because building residential homes for incoming Californians is the only industry we got.

Couple of the counties around here are only letting work continue if its deemed "affordable housing", which is a fucking joke considering the prices they charge for it. Pretty sure someone with some skin in the game made that call..... The HBA here has been down at he capitol this entire week trying to keep construction going, but i have a feeling it will be coming to a halt here shortly.

The Lady and I decided to take a drive to get outside without being around anyone. Took a drive up the coast and it was amazing. But, once you got towards Malibu Seafood and south (mid-Malibu), every place to park along PCH with any kind of beach access was taken. People were double parking by the Malibu pier to wait for a spot. Pure lunacy.

But, fuck, it was amazing out. A little windy with a chill, but DAMN. That's Catalina Island off to the right way out there in the second picture. Stay safe, people.

I'm a mortgage loan officer....I've literally never been busier in my near 20 year career because mortgage rates are sooo low right now.

But, these low rates could cause all kinds of problems...and could potentially collapse the mortgage industry (jumbo and non-conforming loans have already been frozen). Here is a great article explaining how that could happen...Barry Habib knows his stuff on the mortgage secondary market...

Titan..... isn't that alone one of the biggest reasons why the crash happened in 08' - 09'?

The '08 collapse happened because people refinanced house for an increased principle (over the initial purchase price) based on updated appraisal value, as well as sub-prime credit score lending. I believe Titan is referring to the whole industry not making sustainable margins based on the low interest rates currently available. But I could be wrong.

Well...what caused the crash is a loaded question...with a lot of factors.

But one side affect of the crash in 08 was a "mortgage meltdown"...where hundreds (maybe thousands) of mortgage banks (privately owned, and not big enough for government bail outs) couldn't get loans off their warehouse lines, and/or couldn't make margin calls and/or didn't have the capital to stay in business and were forced to close their doors overnight.

So that is very similar to what could happen again...banks not able to make margin calls and/or can't clear their warehouse lines, and/or don't have the capital to write new loans...but for vastly different reasons.

In '08 it was (in a nut shell) because they funded a bunch of subprime loans that wall street lost their appetite for because of the foreclosure rates (basically irresponsible lending)....in '20 it could be for all the reasons mentioned in that article (a perfect storm of factors that tied banks hands up...none of which are necessarily irresponsible lending).

I'm on day 3 of a 4 day trip. Day 1 3 legs cancelled and just deadheaded down to LAX. Day 2 had 3 legs with passenger loads of 13, 2, and 20 on a 76 seat airplane. Day 3 today had 1 leg with 8 people. We will see about tomorrow but today's 6am leg I'm doing tomorrow had ZERO people on it on a 76 seat airplane.

Mauston Wi. I-94 exit 69 truck stop is packed, kwik trip cheap food like large pizza 4.99, no atm fee. But all truck stops from mn. State line to here are full- of trucks. Trailers with anything you can think of including new cars. Exit 10 wi. 40 minute wait to fuel, some of that do to non English speaking drivers going the wrong way or parking sideways in travel lane to fuel island. Portland to wi. Had steady flow of trucks, Minneapolis had all lanes full of traffic. Business as usual.

It would be nice if the relaxing of HOS would demonstrate that professional drivers are responsible and that there could be some meaning full changes to a bunch of pencil pushers setting stupid regulations with no first hand knowledge.
