One thing that I am noticing is that our state's department of health coronavirus website seems to be maxed out right now. I tried 6 times to get to it over about a 5 hour period yesterday before finally being able to get to it. It looks like Washington is reporting actual updates every couple of days, not daily. All of their public facilities are closed right now as well.
I can't even see them, or any other family right now. So it's just me, the Lady, and the cats.

Hoping the best for you all that we can get through this unprecedented time.
I am very thankful to have some more time with the little one at this early point, there's nothing like it.
I'm confident that I'll go back to my job when things get going again. I'm just worried about everyone's health. We have a family friend who's whole family has it, she's a healthcare worker so she got tested and it came back positive. She said her kids didn't get it too bad, but it did a number on her, she's a healthy 31 year old.
All kidding aside, it is really what we are doing so we can keep everyone safe. Yesterday was my Dad's birthday and none of us could go see him in Palm Springs so we all just facetime'd. It seems to be the new normal for a while.
We are two steps away from being totally shutdown because people are stoopid.
Quite possibly the most popular hiking spot in LA, Runyon Canyon, just got shut down. LAPD had to provide crowd/parking control because people were stopped on Mulholland waiting for a spot to park.
Just sucks for those of us doing our best to listen to the Doctors and Scientists and stay home, yet these fucks are just out and about like nothing is wrong.
Buckling up for the next 6-24 months.
I do design and deployments for some of the largest corps/orgs in the world. I can tell you the one thing that is consistent at this point is they are all uncertain as to where this will lead..
Many of my large clients are delaying projects. One very large hospital we do a lot of work for lost their entire "help" desk due to WFH. Its a crazy time right now.
My wife is the manager of an R&D department for a large flavor company. They are also uncertain at this point as to what is going to happen so are scaling down.
Shit we even started doing puzzles, and neither of us even like them. Hahaha
Pit Row
I can say the one good thing i have noticed since this all started is i see a lot more families out and about in our neighborhood. Going for bike rides, walks, playing soccer, baseball, etc.... just spending more time together in general.
But, fuck, it was amazing out. A little windy with a chill, but DAMN. That's Catalina Island off to the right way out there in the second picture. Stay safe, people.
But, these low rates could cause all kinds of problems...and could potentially collapse the mortgage industry (jumbo and non-conforming loans have already been frozen). Here is a great article explaining how that could happen...Barry Habib knows his stuff on the mortgage secondary market...
https://mbshighway.com/mortgage-crisis.html
Very interesting info about the mortgage industry, thank you for sharing it.
But one side affect of the crash in 08 was a "mortgage meltdown"...where hundreds (maybe thousands) of mortgage banks (privately owned, and not big enough for government bail outs) couldn't get loans off their warehouse lines, and/or couldn't make margin calls and/or didn't have the capital to stay in business and were forced to close their doors overnight.
So that is very similar to what could happen again...banks not able to make margin calls and/or can't clear their warehouse lines, and/or don't have the capital to write new loans...but for vastly different reasons.
In '08 it was (in a nut shell) because they funded a bunch of subprime loans that wall street lost their appetite for because of the foreclosure rates (basically irresponsible lending)....in '20 it could be for all the reasons mentioned in that article (a perfect storm of factors that tied banks hands up...none of which are necessarily irresponsible lending).
