Back in the old days on Motodrive, there was a word replace feature, where you could replace just about anything with another word or phrase.

If it was still available, I'd likely replace "okay boomer" with "Yum, boogers," or something equally classy. You know, just to amuse myself.
I remember that. As someone said, back in the old days it was self-policing. Brutal but efficient. Fun times.

Those were good times, Scavo had some killer photos coming out and TFS was shitting in everyone’s mess kit. The Warthog and the Octopus...

What the fugg ever happened to that candy ass Grendel after he got his ass handed to him?

Even after I finally found out who Grendel was, I still didn't know who he was.

Those were interesting times for sure! Miss the TFS days.

If speaking the truth incurs the wrath of the powers that be then I no longer wish to participate. I choose permanent exile.

Jeez, it was a joke to try and impress on you that I think you’re incorrect.

Time spent onsite is one metric, but it’s not the only one by any means. Page loads are another. But as an example, have you ever noticed that Pit Bits is presented in one continuous article, rather than a photo gallery that would count as 50-60 page loads instead of a single one? We try to present stuff in a way that we think shows it off in the best possible light.

My job (as well as Klinger’s and Resnick’s and GD2’s) is to do the best job that we can on the editorial side. There’s no attempt to keep you on the site for any particular time, or any longer than necessary. It really makes no difference. But if we have enough compelling stuff that keeps you coming back for more, that makes both me and my boss (and our advertisers) happy.

Exactly...

Respectful and constructive criticism is good for everyone.

Too bad many seem to enjoy "destructive" criticism.... those who fit the term "poo flinging monkeys".

It’s funny you posted this. When I was reading the post, and thinking about who I’d put in on a ignore list his name was the very first one I thought of. I honestly hope he’s just a troll. If that’s his actual personality I feel sorry for him.

Personally, I think the thumbs down feature should be removed or at least be made transparent.... right now, it's a chickenshit feature.
I agree. I’ve taken some time off this board. Came back to thumbs down being used.

I get the idea behind it, but it allows people to just say, what, “I disagree” without giving their reasoning? Then, you can’t see who did it.

Not a fan.

Me neither, especially since this is a site where the participants share an interest in the sport of motocross, a sport that carries with it undeniable dangers. It appears as though the downvoters are completely fearless men with thick, hairy arms, broad shoulders, rugged jaws, and wills of iron..............right up until the moment their avatar's opinion might be exposed. I've seen some examples of cognitive dissonance in my days, but none better.

"Please, for the love of all that is human, don't let anyone know what my avatar's true feelings are. I simply can't take it. And now, I must go, for I've once again suffered multiple compound fractures at my track of death, and will, as usual, set them myself without even administering an aspirin."

Damn peculiar, it is.

But he don't get it and then doubles down on being not funny. And if you ever find yourself saying, go look at my answer in the other thread - this is a sign you post too much!

I wish the boards would go to a different platform, such a vBulletin. PM's actually work, search feature is useful, ignore options, etc...But, I am guessing all that comes with a price.

Until then, you just gotta take the bad with the good.

Seems to be the goal of many of these clowns... drive people away. Somehow being sh*tty to others gives meaning to their miserable lives. Same with the thumbs down... Look at Vuillemins thread on a recent build he's doing....people are thumbs-downing him. Pathetic.

Ping nailed it in another thread regarding participating in the forum quoted here:

"I'm not afraid of it... I just don't have the patience for it. The older I get the more I realize that there is no room in my life for the negative bullshit that gets blasted via social media and forums where everybody pushes their hate onto others. I'm blocking fools left and right on my social pages because, well, I can. You want to take a shot at me? Make it a good one because you won't get a second chance. I'm still on here regularly but until there's a more civilized, respectful dialogue, I won't be posting."

To not have someone like Ping contributing in threads is a huge loss to this board.

I'm relatively new (joined last year) but I have been a member of other message boards in my life time and have even been a moderator. The behavior here by many is the worst I've ever encountered. Sooner or later, you either clean up the sh*t or all the good people leave. Seen it before.

Best advice I can offer....glean over the garbage, don't engage the haters and enjoy the good content.
