Here's another hurdle any event will have for awhile, liability exposure and insurance.

In our litigious society, I have to think event insurance underwriters are keenly aware that they would be exposed to claims if an event attendee were to get ill and die, or go see grandma a day or to after an event and she dies.

All because the illness came from attending an event and the organizers were careless in holding the event...they should have known...blah, blah, blah...

I'm sure legal has plenty to say about holding events....

Vegas likes CASH, they are the only ones willing to try and help save the series. It may not work, but the season is not OVER just yet !

I posted this from Wikipedia a few replies up.

The last event at Sam Boyd Stadium is scheduled to be a Monster Energy Supercross race on April 25, 2020. UNLV’s contract with Allegiant Stadium prohibits any events from taking place at the stadium after June 30, 2020, leaving the stadium dormant after that date. The exact future of the stadium remains up in the air, as UNLV officials are considering selling it or demolishing it.

Why did they move the final from Vegas if the stadium was available until the end of June?

I genuinely do not say this to be alarmist:

There is a greater chance that these stadiums are being used as intensive care facilities than hosting supercrosses in the next 60 days.

All you need for evidence is to look at the reality in countries where this spread first.

Nobody knows what is going to happen but I think anyone who thinks things are going to be back to normal in 6 or 8 weeks is dreaming. This is going to have a bigger impact across the board than 9/11 which mostly affected travel related business the hardest, everyone else was back to normal pretty quick. This is going to hit across the board, I hope it's necessary.

Is there anything stopping feld from having sx rounds later in the year when the motocross rounds would be held. I have to think if they decide to do that sponsors and factories will choose sx over mx. Is there anything stopping feld from taking over the mx season with sx?

Stand by, there is a solution being made to finish the series. Sheep I tell ya, y’all just jumping in line
That first sentence is pretty ironic 😂

Pretty sure it wasn't Felds decision to cancel the race this weekend in Indy, its the local governments decision. Like many, their limiting groups of more than 250. All of the races canceled so far have been in places where the government has shut it down. Feld doesn't want to lose money. Not 100% on this but SLC, Denver, and Vegas haven't had those restrictions yet? Those rounds are still 3 weeks out. But judging by the last 48 hours it isn't looking good.

SX is the least problem for Vegas. If this going to European route, there will be no people in Vegas at all, because people will cancel theyr trip. Who wants to travel, and got infected, like in airport? Who wants to stay in big hotels that have thousands of people together? The risk of infection is especially high in such places. Our government banned all the events with more than 100 people, schools are shut down, all big events are canceled, all hotels, airports etc in Europe (at least in Estonia) are empty. The list goes on and on.
Vegas will be the city, that takes the hardest hit from this situation.

I hope I'm wrong, but this shit just hit the fan.
All measures are necessary to contain the virus

How bout they just all turn up week by week to each of the test tracks in Corona in box vans, for the next 7 weeks and hold the races. Every team gets one home track advantage and we get this thing done :D

Over? Nothing is over until we decide it is. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"

I too am hearing from multiple sources, of Las Vegas saving the series

Think about this, can you imagine the state of Nevada placing group size restrictions? You'd kill every casino and show in Las Vegas.....that's a major financial hit to that state and many companies, large and small.

My casino host friend there who works for Caesars Corp, says it's slowed down business, but seems mostly the elderly are cancelling.

It may be a very creative finish to the 2020 season, but it's not dead yet, and Feld is really busting their asses to try and make sure enough events are run to avoid team sponsor contracts from being voided.

This is a nightmare situation for team owners, especially newer or smaller one's like ML-512's FXR Chaparral Honda team

Someone needs to call theses Government officials, and ask, what is the criteria for lifting these bans on
mass gatherings. I’m seeing China is kinda lifting things.

A side note.......I have a neighbor, she cleans our house once a week. She lives to shop. Donna told her the Governor of WV, MD and Pennsylvania are exploring the possibility of closing each States borders to each other. The closest Wal Mart is in Maryland.
Her reply.........’”Just let them try!”😀

This whole thing is frightening. While the actual illness doesn’t seem as fatal as past problems..... if we’re reacting this way now, I can only imagine it will get worse. There will be no vaccine for at least a year and our only recourse now is quarantine. Are we going to quarantine for a year?

This thread has so much misinformation, it’s difficult to even get through. The simple truth is nothing has been decided and plans are changing by the hour. For anyone to assume what the situation looks like in 1 week, 3 weeks, or 6 weeks is silly. There is no roadmap for any of this.

Fatality rate is about 5x rate as regular flu and highly more contagious from what I've read. They don't shut down whole countries for the sniffles

The epidemiologist, not news feeds, are saying this will go on for months.
Its not a passing storm, there will be multiple rebounds.
The reason to eliminate big groups is to try and interrupt it.

I'm predicting it will be couple of months at a minimum til things settle down, allowing large gatherings wise.
It’s over for the season.

The irony of all of this is, if the actions taken do their job and the hospitals don't get overloaded and 100,000s of thousands don't die, the "its a hoax, we're overreacting" crowd will claim vindication. If it gets really bad, you won't see any victory laps.

General thought, not aimed at OP: Maybe take this time to go over your reading comprehension.
Geez, the amount of "so n so said this..." and it's not even accurate.
