Gajser needs to stay off the ground, but we all expected him to get smoked here and he didn’t far from it. Gajser made one of the biggest jumps I’ve ever seen from 2015 to 2016 and now his sand riding looks like it just jumped up leaps and bounds. Herlings is doing absolutely what he needs to do though but going into his most dominant track with a 9 point lead and leaving with a 9 point lead was not what he and KTM thought would happened. Still two Moto wins for Herlings equals Two overalls, Can’t beat that.

so Gajser wont win if Herlings is healthy?? thats a big call to make so early in the season, seems to me both are equally fast, for Gajser to straight up beat Herlings in the first moto from the worst gate on Herling's home track, should say something.

In the press conference after the race Gajser was asked if he could explain why he was this strong at Valkenswaard, since he hadnt been that succesfull before at Valkenswaard. Gajser's reaction was that they never really spend much time on developing a good sand setup. This offseason was the first time they spend significant on it.

I must say Gajser looks like the fastest rider after 2 GP's. Not losing points to Herlings at Valkenswaard is big, especially on a weekend where everything went according to plan for Herlings and Gajser actually had issues.

There is no better bike on the track right now then that crf450. Even with the little mistakes gasjer so now and then makes it's keeping him out of trouble. Big mistakes you just going down.

Herlings was struggeling the first moto and as he mentioned ktm did a better job second moto to prep the bike.

Great race from both this weekend. Even the supercross was a great race and track to watch. Gonna be a great season to watch! Let the best man win!

After yesterday’s SX everyone was talking about Tomac “beast mode’ for a whole 21 minutes and a mellow track. These two guys raced for 70 minutes over two motos on a wet sand track, rain, and 10 degree Celsius temp (50 degree F). In both motos, the winner gapped third place by over a minute. I think that is beast mode.

Yes, the factory Honda looks really good. They seem to be able to run a fairly soft setup with it, but it's still not moving around much. Look at the passes to Herlings and Prado in race 1. On rails!

Herlings said himself that He Was surprised with Tim’s pace. Was very wet yesterday and dry sand is a different animal at that level. There is no doubt about it Honda are building better bikes now and Tim here and Roczen over state side are clearly more competitive than ever.

Herlings has the upper hand right now, he got the red plate, won both overalls and Gajser has already crashed twice. That being said, Gajser has never been has good has he is right now. I was saying to my bro yersteday that I don't think that anyone has been as fast as those two in the history of the GP's.

Looking forward to see how it works in lommel. Agree with you that Gajser looks the fastest after two races, but i really think Herlings can do beter during the season.

Well up till this weekend in all these years Gajser never scored more than 36 points at Valkenswaard and that was in a year where Herlings did not participate. And I don't know the stats by heart but i think Herlings only lost motos at valkenswaard in his first year in MXGP.
So for people to expect Herlings to score 50 and Gajser 40 or less at the weekend doesnt seem that Laughing to me.

Herlings not gaining points was always a realistic scenario (just need a crashstart, see Geerts), but Herlings not gaining points by simply being outperformed was for me not really a realistic scenarion up front. So quite the surprise, interesting to see how Herlings handles this.

i just hope they both stay healthy all year, and hopefully Prado and Cairoli get closer to them, a 4 way dog fight for GP's would be awesome,

I agree, and I think once Prado starts hitting his stride, he'll be in the mix. I also expect AC222 to have some podium rides.

To me Herlings hasn’t looked sharp at the last 2 GP’s, yes he’s won 2 races but he doesn’t look comfortable. When he’s on, you can see it in his riding style. I haven’t seen that yet. Undoubtedly Gajser is riding awesome & perhaps he’s making Herlings looks uncomfortable.

I bet on Imola to prepare MXoN. I hope Coronavirus doesn't fuck up the rest of the season.
