Most injury-free riders in history?

Was Jeff Stanton ever injured? Seems like he was pretty rock solid for a lot of years, and a lot of championships.

I recall he tweaked his foot I thought during the outdoor series. That was the year it came down to the final moto between him and Emig. Had he not hurt himself a few weeks previously to that it was looking like it would be his title. But that injury definitely cost him points, and ultimately the outdoor championship that year.

He had an ankle injury that hurt his 1996 MX title run. Also cut his foot during the same MX season, which set him back as well. He would have won the 1996 Mx title except every time he looked over his shoulder that year, he saw green.

Was a cool rider to watch though, looked WFO everywhere!

170 consecutive starts? This thread could have ended right here. That's a ridiculous run.

He rode through some shit for sure too.

Does this include 2003, the year he raced MXGP and 650cc class at the same time?

That year altered a lot of stats. In both wins and starts, etc.

Windham broke his femur at Atlanta one year in practice and missed a lot of racing.

I don't remember Emig missing a lot due to injury after he moved to 250s.

I'd bet quite a few guys who were not necessarily top three to top five guys week in and week out made it through. I've always found it interesting to see how the first real injury affects riders and their aggressiveness on the track.
MC also over-jumped something and hurt his foot or ankle that year. I think it was Millville. He then pulled out of the next race because he didn't want to accept a poor result. I think the soundbite we hear of him talking about the fact that he could have rode around in tenth with no problem but his ego got in the way is related to that. My vote for low injuries goes to Jeff Stanton. I really don't remember him dealing with anything major. I could be wrong though.

Had to include 2003, he was a monster, he went down at Uddevalla on a long straight just wide open, that was on Uddevalla rock quarry hard pack. Nasty, didn’t phase him, didn’t even lose a position. Brutal rider

Heikki Mikkola. Tough as they get. Even DeCoster get a little skittish around him.

Johnny O. 1980-1990 the only thing that could hurt him was a Dogde D50.

I was thinking that too Bobby. I thought it was at an overseas race. That and the fact that he blamed it on the KTM was his reason for retiring fully.

Sorry to burst your argumentative bubble, pal, but 'career' and 'full-time' are hardly synonymous. Whistling
Again, he was DONE in 2006. That was 2008. How are you bursting my bubble exactly?

The dislocated hip was at the test track right before Anaheim 1 and the reason he decided to retire at the beginning of 2003.
