Fantastic idea and I`m curious to see what Ferrari and RB do with this. As far as budgets are concerned, I`m wounder how much RacingPoint, Williams, and Haas are going to spend chasing the rabbit.

In all seriousness the FIA should shut this down immediately! The steering wheel should be a fixed object only moved when the quick release is used.
Sorry but this is just screaming for a failure. While I know they are different this just begs to remind people of Senna.

My opinion.
I agree, some news media already brought it up, what happens when we see other devices pop up and everyone is moving their damn wheel all over the place. Great idea, bad implementation.

I like the idea.. however I wonder why a switch or knob wouldn’t work instead of pulling and pushing the steering wheel. i don’t know the rule book backwards and forwards but I would assume this gets them around some rule somewhere which is why it’s implemented the way it is.

I give Mercedes props for pushing the envelope. Pretty smart actually reducing the toe in on the straightaways to save the tires & increase top speed.

Merc are saying the FIA have been aware of it for some time and that it is legal.

I bet it will be outlawed for next year, but if it 8”is within the 2020 rules, the FIA can’t just outlaw it now.
You can’t punish teams for finding the grey areas of the rule book...it’s a key part of the F1 engineering culture.

One of the articles said toe is the up/down angle of the tires. I always understood that to be camber, with toe being the in/out of the front kf the tires. Am I wrong? The article wrong? Just different terminology for f1?

I guess the gap between the top and bottom will be the biggest ever this season. I`m curious if the bottom 3-4 teams will even bother trying the develop DAS for 20'. Hopefully the top 3 give us a good show.
