Moto van gas smell tips?

Long trips in the moto van I get strong hints of gas smell. What tips do you guys have to get rid of that or product to buy for that?

Just light a cigarette, no gas smell after that.

Seriously though, the only true solution is to build a tight divider wall, and seal off the gaps.

Install an electric fan in the roof, towards the back. Cost about $130, but serves several purposes.

You can use metal VP gas can and plug the vent hose on the bikes fuel tank.

I don’t think I could ever own a motovan without a solid divider wall, my first one I didn’t have and the 3 after I bought extended vans and always built a solid wall, no noise, smells, and way more quite, plus the front gets warm and cold ten times faster and stays that way easier

If smells are coming from your plastic fuel container how about metal jerrycan. As for the filler cap/vent on your bike how about trying a doubled up layer of cling film over the tank then screwing on the cap? Not tried this myself but assume would work? Use it for paint thinners and works ok on those bottles.

Cling film is the UK name not sure what it's called in the USA. That annoying clear film you use for cooking and wrapping sandwiches etc. The one that pings into a useless ball due to static electricity when you cut a piece off.

Make sure your cans are sealed and don't transport your bikes with fuel in the tanks. Or as mentioned above, put plastic wrap on the tank fill hole and then screw the cap on. Unless your bikes are leaking fuel...that should eliminate all the fumes.

put a lockable jerry can cage on the vans back door (outside). use a funnel/dont miss when fueling your bike. Put an electric fan in the roof for $200

I would wait to fill up my can at the last station before a track and if any was left over after riding I would dump it in the fuel tank of the van. I would always put a plug in the exhaust and the very little that came out the vent was undetectable. I never had a wall in any of my vans. If I were transporting race gas I would suggest a metal can. However, besides the gas in the bike I just always thought of it as carrying around a Bomb and always chose for it to be empty as much as possible.

Couple guys I know installed those hitch carriers and placed locked fuel boxes on them. The boxes are secured and locked in place but are removable and they can load and unload over the carrier. They keep their gas in these instead of inside the vehicle. It also provides a little added security for someone trying to get in the rear door to steal bikes since they won't open unless the box is removed.

I run a carbon canister on my vent line while transporting. Took care of the fume issues.

Have had this discussion about toyhaulers with and without the garage separating wall. The guys without the wall said I was nuts there is no gas smell ever. Lol

In my old Krispy Kreme Chevy van I put padding and carpet front to rear and well a gas can tipped over and leaked into the carpet and padding. Took forever for that smell to go away!

Hey vive got a E-250 ford moto van, sometimes I get that smell, usually from filling it up to full at the pump, dont over fill it...

The bike can smell just as bad if not worse than cans, especially if it’s not EFI. Even still, gas is venting off a bike at all times. An electric fan or sealed partition is the only solution.
