Why doesn’t KTM train on KTM?

I see the team is sponsored by Specialized Bicycles when KTM has a complete line of top end bikes. Why is this?

Not the same parent company.

They were originally part of the same company, but split off as part of a corporate restructuring after the company was purchased decades ago.

Husqvarna Motorcycles (KTM Group) also has nothing to do with the sewing machine company, etc, despite the common history/name.

Same deal with Intense mtb and Intense bmx, when it was still a thing. I think THE owned the bmx part of it. I have a Husqvarna power washer, and they use Karcher. Same name, different deal.

KTM bicycles are crap, specialized make some sweet bikes!

Edited to bicycles, their motorcycles are excellent

VSI owned THE and Toby licensed the naming rights from Intense for the bmx line. He lost the rights and bought the Speed designs from Scot Breithrupt. Toby sold VSI and formed BOX after selling the Sinz, Speedco and leftover Intense inventory to J&R Bicycles who then hired Derek Betcher from Haro to redesign the Speedco line and kill off the Sinz line and replace it all with the Avian brand

Weird that they use the identical trademarked logo but have no affiliation.

The logo is from 1962 and predates the split. Just like previously mentioned Husky logo is the same across multiple no-longer affiliated companies:

As a kid growing up in Michigan in the 80's always being around enduro racing, I would go crazy when I would see a Husky "Sewing" Sign on a building thinking they sold motorcycles.

KTM bikes and KTM motorcycles were at one time part of the same company and then the company was split and sold off separately in the early 90's.

Both companies have manufacturing in Mattighofen, albeit KTM Motorcycles does have some bikes produced in India. Additionally, both companies use the recognizable KTM logo and color scheme. KTM motorcycles also makes some pretty sick street bikes and some of the best ADV bikes in the world. While the motorcycle and bicycle companies are not officially under the Pierer Mobility umbrella, they are still loosely connected.

As for Husqvarna, Stefan Pierer purchased Husqvarna Motorcycles from BMW and is licensing the name from the Husqvarna Group which makes the power equipment, sewing machines, etc. Husqvarna bicycles is owned by Pierer mobility as well which owns KTM motorcycles, Husqvarna motorcycles, GasGas, WP, Pankl, and a few other brands.

Fun fact, the Husky logo is actually a graphical representation of a gun barrel and sights as Husqvarna started out as a gun factory in Sweden.

The KTM bicycles are nice bikes, but support in the US is shaky at best. A bit overpriced for what you get compared to the bigger bike manufactures.

I'm gonna say that through the licensing agreement between the two companies they are still loosely connected.

The lack of connection actually resulted in steps to take legal action because of another bike manufacturer that KTM AG was partnering with and who was saying that they were partnering with "KTM".

Dude...who pissed in your Cheerios? This isn't an argument. You misunderstood what I was saying and I was explaining my intent.

Now for the sake of moving the conversation in a positive direction perhaps you would like to share what you know about the legal action between Pexco(Pierer Mobility/ KTM AG) and KTM Fahrrad. I wasn't aware of a resolution.

Box started out as a vision of setting a high end standard in bmx and Toby could focus on developing the mtn bike component groups. Michael Gamstetter was the lead designer for Box, he was at vsi as well. I worked with him and Toby the first couple of years of box and the last 2 years of vsi. The mtn bike group wasnt developing fast enough in testing so he made Gamstetter start spec'ing parts straight from the promax catalogs in china and rebranding as box. The mini hubs are actually a road bike set converted to bmx. The only product truly developed by box is the forks, and the vector cranks. The rest of it is rebranded road and mtn parts adapted to bmx. Gamstetter left a few years ago. Michelle Enriquez left as well, she was responsible for growing the market. She oversees Answer bmx now. Took over when Ryan Birk left.
