Ralph doesnt know the sport, hardly knows the riders, doesnt understand the physics, the tracks, the scoring, the bikes, he just isnt with it.

He has a monster jam level understanding of the sport and treats it as such.

He drums up fake drama, has horrible go to lines, and brings nothing of value to the show.

As hardcore fans we watch the show week in and week out, we pick up on this and are voicing it. Which is the point of a discussion forum, no?

Totally agree. For the length of time he’s been covering this sport I feel like Ralph should be better than he is. Diffey seemed to have a better knowledge and understanding after 3 races.

The other thing they need to realise is that the best athletes don’t necessarily make the best analysts. This is true for many sports. Whilst it’s good to have a big name like RC in the booth, I think there are lesser riders out there who are better at breaking down/explaining and talking about the sport

I absolutely do appreciate what we have now. I remember the days of having to program a VCR to record a race that was sometimes a week old when it was played at 3am. And then finding out the race was bumped for billiards coverage.

So, I love the fact that it is available (mostly) live now.

But it should be and can be better. We shouldn’t have to watch the leaderboard to notice that rider A just moved from 3rd to 8th without knowing what happened. Can the cameras capture every moment, every pass, every crash etc...? No. And we understand that but, geez....is it asking too much to explain to the viewers what happened? Instead we have to listen to Ralph babble on about Roczen’s injuries for the 100th time.

Our bitching and complaining is justified in many cases. How many times have we missed critical moments in the races with zero explanation? Nothing. Passes for the lead have occurred while we have to listen to a story about Chad Reed moving here years ago. It’s amateur. Other sports fans wouldn’t tolerate a game winning field goal being missed because the commentators were showing a clip from the kickers high school days. They’d be pissed and rightfully so.

We’re not attacking Ralph on a personal level. I’m sure he’s a great person but, he sucks. Yes, we get it. He has to do/say what the producers are telling him in his ear piece. And at times it’s painful to listen to. If your waiter brought you the wrong order would you say something? Is that considered bitching, whining and complaining also? Or are you just pointing out that you deserve the correct meal? And that is what we deserve. Better coverage and commentary.

Something that was brought up on the Pulp Show with Weege changed my opinion on why Leigh was brought in. From what Weege said, he was basically told by NBC when the contract shifted that, "You have the job if you want it." to call the SX races. Long story short, I think NBC doesn't like Ralph, and Feld loves Ralph, so NBC brought in somebody who knows what they're doing to show Feld how bad Ralph is.

The listener has to adopt there hearing and personality a bit. Because every announcer has a different style and voice. The tv and radio commercial for years is David lee, great voice. But that style is grab your attention, wouldn’t. Work for race calling. He was a dj on wapl in Appleton wi. 30 mi s. Of Green Bay. Robots are the future haha, then everyone will say bring back that human

Will is flat knocking it out of the park. She asks great questions, and has very clearly taken the time to get to know who's who and what the relevant stories are each week/season. A+

Maybe she could educate Ralph on something other than bike colors.... I can't imagine what he thinks Davalos is riding....?

at the beginning of the broadcast ralphie was really trying hard to sell the dylan/craig drama. i found that pretty annoying considering everyone already knew there wasnt going to be any type of pay back/drama. cant recall who said it earlier in the thread, but i 100% agree that ralph makes it seem like a “show” instead of a sport.

In all honesty, I thought from day one that Daniel Blair (who almost everybody likes) sucks massively.
Don't like his face, his hair gel, his voice, his tone.
He plays the expert, yet I never ever learn anything from him.
And his habit of putting his midget ankles in the ruts to show how deep they are is plain stupid...
Voilà.
Still, I bravely endure it and never considered opening a thread to say how bad I think he his...

Ralf all he can seem to talk about is Eli when Eli is not winning the race. It’s like the only name he knows. Rc and Ralph should be at the unemployment office. How they have jobs I don’t understand

Off the direct subject here, but, a previous post(s) has / have alluded to Feld / SX seeming to want nothing to do with the MX series.

It baffles me - no, pisses me off - that it seems verboten to have any mention of The Outdoors from the SX announcers. It's just so bloody stupid, nay, childish.

Yet, strangely, for at least the last couple of years, I've seen Feld / SX Emblems , on the US MX Des Nations jerseys. I assume they must be contributing a bit of 'coin' to the effort?

Diffey is a true professional, the commentary seems fluid when he’s on the mic and he makes his co-commentators better. I like Ralph, he’s okay, but they can do better. Weigandt is much better, works for NBC, I don’t know why they won’t give him a shot at it
Why bother when most here seem to think Leigh kills it.
Be wayyy too much of Weege doing SX Mx and podcasts he’s every where..

I agree, Leigh would be great, but he covers many different sports and I’m guessing that he probably wouldn’t be available for the entire season. Weege would be better than Ralph is all I’m trying to say

I don't think I heard anything about red Hondas, green Kawasakis, yellow Suzukis and so on... It was refreshing not hearing it, but Ralph still needs to go

She’s good and all .. just the shouting in that high voice over the noise onthe floor about speaking to a mechanic who said cooper Webb ate a sandwich yesterday and he feels like sesame seeds are a good fit with roast beef and he needs to get better starts is a bit annoying ... just stick to the podium Will

I'm all for a dedicated sub-forum just for the announcing complaints. Add one about the NBC sports app while you're at it. I seriously think people start their own thread just to feel like their voice is finally heard since it get's buried in the 1,000 comments from one of the other 100 threads.
