I'm in N Portland , and this used to be the toughest part of Portland , but it's cleaned up a bit. Still some bad shit happens here , especially summer time.

It's by the University.

I only bring it up because I had a very similar experience recently. Thought shit was GOING DOWN just down the road. Turns out there was just a firework show finale about 10 blocks from me downtown but on the river so the sound echoed through... Sad to think that's where my mind goes after hearing a bunch of pops and bangs, Was a huge relief though! Grinning

Here , in this part of town , it used to be really bad. But as the housing costs went up , a lot of the bad people moved away , but some are still around in the shady parts of the neighborhood. During the warmer months around here , there are always gun fights , or drug busts going on. The Portland police , or stater's , don't cut much slack once they have been fired at.....and then hell breaks loose. This town ( not so much my area ) but Portland , over the past 5 - 6 years , seems to be getting more and more nuts.

Well the university of Portland is only about 1 mile from my house , maybe they did something there as well? The Keller Auditorium is a good 5 miles away I think ( in a strait line ). That may be what I heard , but not sure what all the sirens were about.

less than impressed with the actual racing on the track itself, after last week almost every track will be a letdown, this track was about as 1 lined as a slot car track

Track was terrible. Worst layout I've seen in Phoenix since they started racing in the big upside down bed pan. Very happy for Ken, he looked fantastic all day and night. But the racing was just bad up front. Just no sections that would separate the men from the boys other than the whoops, when they got squared edged. The racing in Glendale is usually fantastic, but tonight the track layout made for a freight train with very little separation. Outside of Kenny taking the W home, the next best highlight was the girl who sang the national anthem. Young lady was fantastic.
