In the video Axell says he's the first and then corrects himself and says the first off an 18 foot ramp.

I still say Pages did it first just like Jay Miron was the first to do a double backflip on a BMX bike.

i say the alley op is harder as he turns into the the ramp(oppisite way he is going) where the flair is rotating towards the landing

I have enough trouble with those on a bmx bike, I honestly would have told you that it’s impossible on a motorcycle. The pop is so strange and I tend to track away from whatever quarter pipe I’m doing them on, and with the amount of body input you have to put in I can’t belive that a motorcycle would comply well enough to pull that off.

That’s one of those tricks that will be seriously underrated because it looks easy, but holy hell is that impressive.

I can understand how you do a double backflip. I don’t understand how you can do that. Pretty amazing. Also, the landing is literally perfect. Kid has a lot of talent.

No they usually dont. Someone mentioned the body input on a bmx and you're right, I think the reason this looks so much like a flip is that it's easier than trying to muscle the bike. I might be dead wrong but it was easy to pull too far out on an alley oop and land completely flat on a BMX, ask me how I know. I remember Jaime Bestwick absolutley killing alley oops on vert back in the day, I am sure theres clips of it somewhere online.

I'm far from a Hodges defender but I don't think 'difficulty' came into his reasoning for trying it.. No one has done one, it must feel cool to do something like that especially if you're the only one that has.. Plus I think it looks cooler but I'm a sucker for slower less busy tricks

What strikes me as funny about your comment and Eli's is that Eli isn't a finesse kind of rider. Theres no way I could ever picture him as badass as he is as an all out racer with his speed, being able to have the finesse/skill to pull this off even for his level of talent but I'll bet Hanny could join the club if he wanted to give it a go.
No disrespect to Axel, this is goddam gnarly as are a lot bbn of his videos .....to me Axel is the kind of rider naturally gifted with a good feel for the bike, the opposite of Tomac lol.
To me it looked like hes fading away while whipping the bike heavily almost fighting gravity and inertia

So the first image isn't a flair. It's a 540, slightly off-axis. (I think harder than a 540 Alley Oop BTW).

The video is in fact a 540 alley oop. Note that Tom is spinning the same direction - CCW (Typically once people learn to spin, they spin a certain direction naturally.)

Axel has executed a basic alley oop. CCW rotation while traveling from left to right . Can also be done CW from right to left

Alley oops are usually how people cut their teeth when learning to spin on transition because you never lose sight of the landing. Once you get the "feeling" it's easy to progress into harder spinning tricks on transition. (I use the term "easy" in a relative way.)

All three are impressive on a machine with rotating internal parts. haha
