Have people already forgotten how horribly out of shape AND injured he was in 2017 and he still made mains.

He's in a way better place now.

People are on crack everyone saying Reed will not make every main need to be evaluated. The only reason he will not make a main is if bad luck happens, his speed will get him into the main every time.

Legend. You guys do hear the crowd reaction for all things Reed at the races, no? Straight up respect, no matter how many rounds he races, no matter how many mains he makes.

He has never not qualified in 249 starts.

Crazy how many people claim to be Reed fans and have watched him since he started, but ask if he will qualify for mains or question his work ethic. Anyone who’s followed him or the sport that long knows that answer to those questions. Reed lucky to qualify for mains? Are we serious right now? Lol.

Not trying to stir the pot just kind of baffled

What’s really funny about that sign, is that he’s addressing a group of morans, seemingly suggesting they acquire and share a single brain.

Geez, tuff crowd in here! Asked the question so I know which ones I dont have to watch live (I'm in aust). Love to see the guy race until hes 40. Win or loose!! Hes made his decision. As long as he puts the most effort he can put in with 4 weeks prep- I'm sure he will be in main events. ( Barring a huge crash or mechanical). Some races he will be top 5or so, others 8-12th ..
Theres another 15 riders that line up that fit into that scenario..
Not many would have him in his prime.
Let's enjoy the end of the era. (Last of the 2stroke racers)
Cheers

How does a person have over 2000 posts here, yet doesn't know the "moran" lingo?

Anyone know how many night show starts he has? I doubt it's much more than 249, but there's no way that in 17 1/4 seasons he went injury free every week in the heats/semis. I wouldn't be surprised to see him miss one or two mains this year as many LCQs as he's been riding but of the 15 starts he'll make at least 13 mains leaving with the record of 262-264.

If he was there, he raced the main. Detroit 08 was the closest but they had the provisionals that year so he started the heat and LCQ and raced with a broke scapula and coughing up blood... to 8th in the main I think, which suggests he'd have qualified regardless.

Dude is tougher than nails.

Really? 2019 is a LONG time ago at 37 or 38 years old. Reed has barely ridden since the SX season ended and he's going up against guys who have ridden full MX and practiced all fall/winter. I'd be surprised if Reed even makes it through the first 5 rounds without getting hurt.
The same Chad Reed that after only being two weeks out from breaking those ribs, mustered up the speed just for one lap to catch and pass the 2018 champion.

Yes it was an off season race, but it still showed, Reed still has the pace to run with the best, top 20 speed to qualify for mains should not be an issue.

God we are never going to hear the end of it this year. Poor Ralph is going to need a tissue every round. There'll be 20 threads a week on here stroking him. There will be a TV feature or 2 every week on him.

I respect the guy but not sad to see him go at all. And it's much more about all the sycophants than it is about him.

Yep would be a good time to get on board as a sponsor with all those eyes on him and all the coverage Chad will get.

Bro...... while full on I appreciate and respect your optimism, I assure you great results are not gonna come bec he has zero fight and hasn't trained since breaking his ribs??? He will let anyone he deems in the top 10 go right by him and as much as I HATE to say it, it's the reality. I was watching a race from last year on the sx preview show and he went wayyyyy wide to let Tomac "bye" and I get it but we are far from 2012 Chad Reed where he was written off....that's an old fable at this point and its sadly time to let it go.

At best he may crack top 15 and it's not like he's slow or outdated, he still has it but hes not gonna bring it to risk it for the biscuit

I'm sorry to say that even if he was "kujo" fit it's not fitness that's slowing him down .........its his lack of gumption and desire to still wanna win.

His situation entering the season is nearly identical to 2018 on the Husky...it's hard to see this going any better than that.

I get where people are doubting him, they've been doing it for 10 years, but Chad's a gamer. He's going to qualify from 15-20 each week, but he'll squeak out top 8's in heat races and make it into the show.

Nobody's under the impression he's going to come out and set the world on fire like 2011. But he did podium last year, not with outright speed but with race craft and experience. Something he has more of than anybody else in the history of the sport.
