Not MX/SX but this will be interesting to follow. This has to be the biggest WADA case in motorcycling or am i missing something?

At 45 years of age and never using a steroid I had a fall a few weeks back. Some thing in my shoulder and it hurt really bad. Zero range of motion. I was prescribed a little steroid pill. Needless to say in 2 days I could lift my arm and it only got better. So now I can only imagine what drugs under that same umbrella could do for a real athlete.

I guess they don't just pick on sx riders. Just people with shit in their system that shouldn't be there.

I don't see anything there that qualifies as "heavy shit." I believe the amounts/levels of said AAS would determine that and I see no reference of those. Still, he took or injected something illegal.

So they tested him in November and already have notified him and suspended him?

That sure beats the hell out of the treatment they give riders in the American Series.

Well, MotoGP is 5x bigger than our sport so that could be one reason.

Going to be interesting to see how good his cheque book works. I think he will receive a slap on the hand.

No way. I would be surprised if he gets anything less than the full 4 year olympic ban.

If that's the case he may as well retire. Definitely will be interesting to see what happens.

I believe any leaf or bug, flower or weed you can touch should be legal. The 'natural' stuff. Almost anything made in a lab should be banned. Only in comp. Off bike do whatever.

Heavy s***?

I'm sure everyone here on Vital will believe that it showed up from a perfectly harmless tainted protein shake that he bought at GNC. You know those darn irresponsible Chinese supplement manufacturers ruin everything.

Anthony West got banned 2 times during his career in Moto2/MotoGP.
Dont see Iannone get away from this less than one year ban.

This will be very interesting. We will see how Dorna deals with this and what kind of pull they have with the FIM. From Dorna's standpoint they need Aprilias on the track, and even though his star is fading Iannone is still a big name in the sport. I'm almost sure Dorna will be leveraging the FIM on this, very unlike Feld who just basically walk away and do nothing to support an athlete who tests positive.

I was thinking the exact same thing.. US based riders aren't finding out for several months.. Kinda fucked up.

You think that a hypothetical American MotoGP rider wouldn't find out that he tested positive in the same time frame as Iannone did?

FIM has been a disgrace regarding MX/SX cases but you can't compare our tiny sport to MotoGP. MotoGP is FIMs flagship by an ocean compared to all other series they are involved in.

But at the same time. Bradley Smith has been testing for them all year long and he is a good rider that would be easy to put on Iannones 2020 ride.

Dorna will do as they are told indirectly by WADA. When former MotoGP rider Anthony West tested positive back in 2013 after consuming energy drink Mesomorph (which had a banned substance in it) Dorna handed out the punishment - disqualified from his seventh place finish at the French Grand Prix and handed a one-month ban, which caused him to miss the 2012 Valencia season finale.

However, the wankers over at WADA appealed to the CAS for a harsher punishment - the result - all of West's race results from the 2012 French GP until 19 October 2013 were wiped from the record books.

The FIM are weak and that they align themselves with an authoritarian regime like WADA does a great disservice to all racers involved in FIM sanctioned events.

WADA have yet to provide conclusive proof that any "illegal" substance will improve a rider. No 10th place finisher is about to start winning championships no matter how many performance supplements/injections they could get.
