Tbteam, I've had the same thing done to me before ( not to your extent ) and it REALLY sucks plain and simple! The first thing I did was let everyone know who he was though. I'd feel bad if someone else went through the same scenario as myself. That being said why not let everyone know who he is? If I bought a similar bike from him because I didn't know and then found out you could've warned me and you didn't, I would wanna hunt you down almost as much as the seller. Just my .02!
Good luck with everything.

That bike looks familiar, was it from the Museum in Connecticut?

I am the person that sold Mark the bike. A buddy of mine just called me a few minutes ago to check this thread out. I have had it since approximately 2012-2013 sitting in a shop on display.

We did the deal over the phone and email a month or two ago. A price of $4400 was agreed upon. He wasn't satisfied with the bike when it arrived so in the last couple of weeks I sent him a $400 refund, followed by another $400 refund a week later. I also ate the import/broker costs for him. After refunding him I have let the bike go for a total cost of $3000. I do believe I have done my best to make it right with Mark, he obviously feels differently and that is fair too. I do have a fair bit more money into the bike myself than what I it sold for.

I have sold other items through Vital in the past and I have bought many items through Vital as well, all without any issues. If any of you feel that the $3000 I received for the bike is unfair you are welcome to shoot me an email.

Considering how bad the bike was it was only worth $400-$500

So yes you might have more than that in it but Mark got screwed. maybe you got screwed in the first place but at this point it seems you just passed it on to Mark.

Weather you did or didn't know doesn't matter, you should have known what you were selling.

So, I have read this thread. Looks to me that you knowingly misrepresented and sold a bike that you had to know was a pile of shit. And, if you didn't know, you're an idiot of biblical proportion. That bike isn't worth $3k. It isn't worth $500. Just the absolute frustration involved would make a person snap a friggin band. Did you ever tell him...don't try to ride or run this bike, because the bike is in non-operating condition and it was loving assembled by Helen Keller?

In his defense the plastics/graphics/seat are worth $500. I would say around $750-1000 would be a fair price for that as long as it was stated up front that besides cosmetic items it would need full rebuild.

To Schuster187 think the reason you are getting crap (and deservedly so) is because it wasn't advertised as a project and seeing the pictures most would assume (I know bad thing to do) it should be ready to go.

That is a $500-$1,000 bike, not a $3,000 bike.

I love the missing lower motor mount bolt in the advertised photo. No way I could sleep at night if I knowingly sold that dumpster fire to someone. Kudos for the seller coming on her but c'mon bro, you had to know that thing was roached out and was worth $900 at best (just for the graphics and plastic).

The fact that you don’t seem to understand what’s wrong here is mind-boggling. Also you seem to be very familiar with bikes and from the looks of it you’ve had many of them. So you can’t say that you were unaware of the bikes condition. This is something I can see a 15-year-old off craigslist trying to scam people. Not someone who does this for a living or a hobby. You clearly aren’t looking at the same bike I am because you would see just how horrible of condition it actually is and it’s nowhere near a $4400 bike nor a $3000 bike for that matter. To be shocked that the buyer is upset is quite ridiculous.

Just saying "Caveat emptor" does not bring back the sellers reputation or make it right.

I did not see the original ad or the way it was described. BUT, if you had it advertised as a "Display" bike then you're ok and the onus is on Mark. Any other way of describing it was fraudulent.

Also Shuster--even if you really weren't aware of all the missing/dilapidated parts, the JB Weld running out of the cylinder should have been enough for you to take a closer look before marketing the bike as restored racer.

I seen a never started 96 cr250 sell at mid ohio a few years back for 5500.00 it was brand new. Get some frame guards and some sticklys made and boom the MC replica. That runs!

My question is who the fuck put the broken parts in it?

Schuster, someone in your position should know better.

This thing was clearly hacked together as an unrideable display unit only, and should have been represented as such.

I have to imagine that you just didn't know its true state. If you did, I think you need to go further to make things square.

Given the buyer’s expectations to be able to ride the bike...yeah ide be livid...the bike wouldn’t have even started in that state let alone hit a tiny jump..
