Better change something, I don't see the nationals lasting much longer in the current format. So much more money in SX and more and more riders are wanting SX only contracts. 29 weekends a year of racing is a lot. And that doesn't count MEC or MXoN.

You know there's already a 125 race at each National, right? Blink

People are so funny. They asked for a 125 race, got one, and it’s so important to them that they’ve forgotten about it

People didn't forget about the 125 class I think they just want something more serious. Something like a 6 race east/west series where riders can actually make a name for themselves and possibly gather some support for the 250 class. Right now it's a novelty race where a couple old fast pros show up and beat tons of locals many of which are on borrowed 125s that they have never ridden.

What "support" would they get for the 250 class? There are a solid 10 guys every year in the 250 class that are privateers and could benefit from better equipment/support.

He eluded to longer moto’s than the exhibition races they have now and geared towards the up and coming amateur racers...qualifying and first moto on Friday second moto on Saturday...He also said he was willing to move the last national to Labor Day weekend to help with the MXDN but would expect the MXDN date to move closer also...

There’s a list of privateers in the 450 class and 250 class that should get support before any one racing the 125 class.

O I know, it is cool to see. That said, is it an official race like the 250 or 450 motos? No, the answer is no.

This 125 class would be a perfect set up for these guys as long as the rules allowed them to race. I think after a few seasons there would be some legit teams that paid decently enough wanting to win these things. Might be a good spot for a dude who regularly makes mains but gets no money doing it.

There's a list of would be 125 class riders who should be getting support before any one racing 65's and superminis. Such is life.

You guys expect Coombs to be a Dana White and bring this sport back from life support?

Exactly - make it a real series with at least 20 minute motos and points. i went to Millville, stood in the rain and got to see 7-8 125 guys, Mike Brown didn't even know the race was happening although he was there. Great 125 race...

These would be amateur races to help develop and bridge the gap between super mini’s and 250F’s....I guess there’s always going to be negative nelly’s that have no clue on how to grow the sport...the support will be there for those that will be part of the future growth through the amateur programs that are already in place...not taking any money from anybody that would get support...

Why so negative? I think he is pretty darn passionate about the sport. I would absolutely love to sit and have a drink with him, pick his brain. My knowledge of Supercross or moto doesn’t go before 1994 so when he talks about Hannah, Bayle, Barnett, Lechein, it’s all good fun stories and I like to absorb it. It seems like he tries hard, who else is trying?
I went to Oldenbergs old track in Cambridge MN a few weeks ago, and it was a pleasant surprise to see the place packed. Nearly HALF the bikes were two strokes... I have not seen that for a very long time. I am hoping the tide is turning

Isnt coombs the guy behind the scenes who helped build the sport to where it is?

GuyB, have a question for you: What would your opinion be on making the 125's a regional MX series, one East, one West; keep it a Pro-Am series so someone can still race Loretta Lynn's and participate in a series such as this. Has it been discussed in the past?

Feld COULD pull a Dana White and lead SX into the mainstream but they're too shortsighted. I don't see MX Sports taking over (outdoors is just not the spectacle SX is), but FELD could rip SX away from the AMA and the old guard and break new ground if they had the vision.

The 125 race "series" would feel a lot more real if they would simply televise it. You can take out the track preview before every single moto and maybe remove one of the features about how much a privateer loves his dogs or golfing. It is really cool that they have added these races to every national, but simply reading the results column each weekend has left a lot to be desired.

The 125 races are awesome...and if the "powers that be" can upgrade it into a championship then it will be off the charts.

That was a great listen and I really loved Deegan's passion from the angle of family involvement. Wouldn't it be interesting if he spearheaded a 125 series?

They already did that years ago....
