Even a busted out of shape Reed with no preparation on his own equipment qualified for mains.
Why do you do it?
He's a vet guy racing dirtbikes with his buddies. Just so happens hes at the top of the sport, still.
Nobody is claiming Brayton should just give it up, or that Windham should've given it up. Why does Chad racing seem to irritate so many people? He's not at the level he used to be, but he's certainly not a pushover by any means. And he did podium this year so there is that also.
If he loves riding and racing bikes then what are his options? Take on Browny at Lorettas?
You retire when you've had enough, not when other people decide you're done. If he's got the drive and someone to fund it then he's definitely got the speed. Why is it anybody's business but his?
Ofcourse his first preference is the best equipment and more money. But if he needs to he will ride for free or even build his own bike to race. The why is because he loves doing it... and he knows if he gives it up now he couldnt return in 2 years time if he missed it and expect to be in main events.
However if you can't appreciate what he has done during his career, than you can't be a true motocross fan.
Pit Row
People who say reed races for money & people who say he should give it up.
Both points are completely irrelevant.
Exactly, there is always a couple vets, former champs or so that are racing every week ends locally and still putting great results. He is just a vet at a whole different level
I really hope he gets a good bike, because honestly he was the main attraction and best performer of the JGR team this year, as in any team he has been in. No reason to have him on the side line.
He wants top notch equipment. He feels he's earned it. If someone is willing to give it to him, who is anyone else to judge? There's a give and take (in regards to exposure and fans that CR brings) that JGR thought was worth the cost of equipment and bonuses. Sounds like they don't see the value this year. Maybe it's because the strings are tighter? Who knows?
He's racing because he wants to and because he's able to get support. If you have to question why anyone is doing this, you wouldn't understand the answer.
Did you ever hear a crowd cheer so loud for a 3rd place finish? Ever?
That describes everything about the whole world today. Free speech but..... don't offend anyone. There are people walking around everywhere just looking to find the next thing they'll be offended by.
I know I'm tired of reading "interviews" that are kissy kissy, lovey lovey, bike is the best, we're all skipping thru a meadow of flowers. Why can't Chad speak his mind and tell us what he really thinks. Maybe that's why there're so many people that are still interested in finding out if he will be back on the gate.
"He’s one of the few Pros that actually likes riding dirt bikes! Many Pros walk away and end up really disliking the industry!"
That sentence means alot more than almost everything else on this thread.!
Screw the man. Let's go racing.
Only thing I don't get, is why he doesn't bring another rider or 2 with him. Some young guy that for whatever reason can't latch on to a ride.
Who knows, Chad might implode and his guy or guys really hit it.
Pay them next to nothing, let them sleep in the rig during the week, whatever. Just give a hungry guy willing to go the distance, a whole season, a shot.
EnC Racing. Kinda has a ring to it, no?
I see you guys still spout the same crap you did ten plus years ago about Reed.
Ignorance is bliss, as they say...
A set up like he had on the Husky could be all he needs for a farewell tour. A good bike, a small crew but this time no injury and im sure you'd see him in the top 10 most nights again. But even that is stress that they may not want at this point.
If you've got enough money to retire and you're only doing your job for the love of it. When stresses pile up and eat into that love then it must be tempting just to throw the towel in. So i understand where he doesn't want to do it on his own again.
