just a few years working with catalysts for pump fuel, and various alternative blended fuels. I'm not a certified master tech, just an engineer in powertrain but I do listen to their input. I did save 50 bucks on my car insurance by calling geico and asking the insurance agents for chemistry advice last night though.

A couple years ago I put a few gallons of old pre-mix in a 2008 express. Not sure if it was coincidence or not but a week or two later the fuel pump went. Bumping this thread cause I have about 3 gallons of old pre-mix and don't know if I want to risk that again.

I don't know what type of gas you get in the States, but I have used several months old premix with no issue at all. 95 octanes (european rating) with synthetic oil.... Have not noticed any difference Huh

Won't do it anymore in a mid 90s or newer car. Not worth the risk to the cats. I have reverted to my dads way of doing things. Weed killer, bring it on libs.

The lawnmower idea sounds great, but I use less than 2 gallons a year in my mower.
Not good for oxygen sensor or catalytic converter. I use it for my gen,mower,weedwacker etc.

I used to feed my old premix to an old Jeep , tried that in my Suburban and it cooked two sensors. Lesson learned I take it to fuel recycling center now

Are you guys serious? I have ran 6 month old premixed C12 with Motul 800 in my full race KX250 and had no issues and no detonation. I do store it in the steel VP pail in between rides ... but seriously 2 weeks? And you guys believed that Woohoo Woohoo Woohoo

I'd say if it's been in a METAL can, and not sitting on a concrete floor (tends to collect moisture), that it's OK. Pour it into a clear jug and let it sit for an hour - does it separate and can you see water "blobs" sitting in the bottom? I would not just pour it into the tank without checking it...

Here's a practical answer for you. On your way to the track pull over on a side road and dump it out on the street. Or in some gravel. It will evaporate in less than 10 mins.

Or you can wait til the neighbors are in for the night and just walk outside and spread it across you driveway. Same thing will happen.

I used to put it in my truck. Really, a 32 or 40 to 1 mixture then diluted even more when you put it into 10-20 gallons in your car isn't going to hurt anything. I only have one 2 stroke now so I don't do it as much.
Oh, 2000 F250, 6.8l 208k miles.Original cat still going.

It's a solid question on what to do with the stuff. I have an old VP can containing questionable fuel that came in a used bike we bought. Our area has a hazardous waste drop-off site that takes old fuel. Bad news is that it's barely open right now due to the Covid situation.

Ok. So it has been a year and a half since I started this thread. I have since bought a four stroke. Updated question - how long is non mixed gas good?

Asking because an injury has forced me to not ride for the next 6 months.

I'd get as much gas out of tank as you can. Dump whatever you have into your car. Good luck with your injury.

This. Unmixed gas does not last as long as premixed.

EDIT: You could always add some stabilizer, slosh it around and start the bike up for a minute or two. Fuel-injected bikes won't have as big a problem with old gas anyway.

You won't instantly see the effects, but poisoning cumulates over time and will shorten the life of the twc

I was moving across country and had about 5 gallons of premix that I could not take with me and it was leftover from the fall. I put on Facebook market place that it was old premix for free and I had about 4-5 people asking to come to get it And it was gone within 5 minutes.

Goes in the powerwasher. Or into my car. I'm not going to sweat a gallon of stale premix diluted in a full tank. No biggee.
