Yes that is correct. I heard the rumour some time ago but thought it was just talk, but he is actually moving up.

If it doesnt hurt his confidence i think it will help him develop quicker compared to staying in the class. The guys above hi in the championship all willl move up.

The weird thing is that in terms of results de Wolf didnt improve during the season. Most points scored by him was at the first race of the season. Guys like Everts or Karssemakers really improved (although clearly not to the level where de wolf is riding) during the season in comparison.

But is it because of changes in the team structure or is it because they think it's the best thing for his career?

Wouldnt be a problem for factory husqvarna to provide him with a competitive 125. From what i've heard they feel its best for him to move up (not sure who the driving force behind this is)

The kid is obviously fast.. do you spend a year in EMX125 .. or get him on a 250 early, and let him crack on. There will a shortage of good MX2 riders, and you need to arrive in MX2 with enough time left to do something.

Been looking at the teams on the website, why does Red Bull KTM have two different teams with two different managers? Can’t play nice together? Different sponsors?

-confused American trying to follow MXGP.

Herlings skipped it en moved from 85cc to emx250 at 14 years old. 2nd place that year in the championship behind Charlier

The short version:

It used to be two teams for both classes. The 450 team run by De Carli and the 250 team run by Dirk Gruebel. Then came the time for Herlings to move up on the 450 but he wanted to stay with 250 team run by Dirk Gruebel (De Carli and Cairoli are tight, really tight). Jorge Prado raced his first MX2 year under the 250 team but then moved to the De Carli team and is now basically an understudy for Cairoli/De Carli and the future for that side of the KTM MXGP effort.

Nice time, they had 3 mxgp riders and 3 mx2 riders...

True but de Wolfe isn’t at the same level that Herlings was when he was that age.

And KTM is cool with that? Everyone is winning/contending so why make a fuss? Seems interesting.

There is no fuss. Everyone is happy. The both teams work very close together, they just pit out of different trucks and have their practice/testing base in different places.

It was a very conscious decision to keep Herlings in the Gruebel camp. The knew both Herlings and Cairoli would be title contenders and not having them in the same truck would certainly help on certain days. Herlings was also very comfortable on that team, and as a dutch he´d much rather stay with Gruebel, who is based in Holland than to move to Italy for the DeCarli team.

And back then pretty much everyone jumped straight to 250’s because there wasn’t a 125 class like there is today. Different times.

I really hope it works out. Like I said earlier, Italian teams can be a bit tricky to work with.

Would be great if DRT Kawi moves up to MXGP. Imo a great fit for Anstie and on their day they could challenge for a win, so hopefully that becomes reality.
I don't see Martens & covington being such a success, more like similar to Lieber's result. But that's much better then no Martens in the serie.
