Here's a pretty sweet build that I went way overboard with. There are very, very few parts that aren't either new or NOS. I never had one when I was a kid (had CR80) but I love the looks of the KX and when the opportunity came last year I jumped on it. To name just a few trick items, the engine is the 100cc factory option which was then worked by Tom Morgan. Custom built YSS shock and converted to 428 chain/sprockets. The list is almost endless.

Very nice build. I had a 82 which was pretty much the same bike as my 1st real MX bike. Those bikes use to scoot pretty good.

That brings back good memories. Those little things were rocketships back in the day seem to remember. Looks great and also must be pretty rare now.

How did you get the plastics so good? Are they painted or new? Seem to remember a few years back some people seemed to paint plastics but I was never sure if they lasted and how durable they were when painted.

Hard to find bike and difficult to locate parts but very cool looking when finished.

All the plastic is new and yes, it's a ripper.

I love the looks of them. The parts were somewhat difficult. I had to buy a whole another bike just to get the exhaust. lol.

Haha, I’m not the only lunatic out there that purchases another bike just for one part!

Amazing job mxchris208! I was fortunate to own, ride and race a '82 KX-80 back as a kid, and they not only looked cool....but were very competitive vs. all the yellow bikes back then! I can't imagine how hard it was to track down parts, and how much time you have in it. Great work, and thanks for bringing back great memories of my childhood!!

Here are a few of my pics from back in the day...

I raced a 1980 CR80 when I was younger but always like the looks of the Kawi. Mxracer106, nice pics.
