The majority of the market Kawasaki sell to either don’t know what the MXoN is, or care about it. I doubt they are worried. More focused on winning a supercross championship

Not even close. I would bet more than half of all active riders don't even follow pro racing in the US, let alone what's going on on the other side of the planet

Mxdn isnt the biggest. Supercross is. Id be interested to see TV ratings of mxdn vs supercross A1.

Either way, kawis marketing team is more experienced than you are.

Doesn’t makes sense If you own a mx bike from gear ads to rebull all you see is pro riders

I agree in USA supercross is a lot bigger then mxdn but if there is a race any race that the USA riders need them to support they should take a step forward

Motorcycles are a drop in the bucket for KHI. This is business 101 to them as far as a bottom line, MX is probably a decent write off for them. Doubt me? Google Kawasaki Heavy Industries.......

People are so easily agitated these days. Kawi has different goals that don’t mesh well with their participation this time around.

You understand that these riders aren't exactly fighting for our freedoms, right?

The MXoN is a cool race and all, but in reality it's turned into more of a "faux patriotism for the wallet of Luongo only" type of thing.

Since the riders are expected to perform for free, I think that all revenues should be donated to appropriate charities. Let's see what happens when everyone involved makes as much (little) as the riders do for the event......

I bet you they lose out on a lot more than 5 bikes, plus a lot of bad PR won't help.

Those 5 guys don’t ride and if they purchased a bike it would be a used one for $1500

Kawasaki knows that their riders won’t really be paid for the event, Kawasaki would incur the expenses, and the only guy getting paid would be Luongo and probably a few guys that he greases at the FIM.

It’s a motorcycle race, not the storming of the beaches of Normandy......

I don’t relate to what your saying the post is about the only race in the world where all nations compete and the best riders get pick and do not go for lack of support from the manufacturer
None of the teams get paid and husky will support 2 riders fro USA and many more I bet

Whether other manufacturers decide to support riders or not is obviously their choice, but Kawasaki’s position is pretty reasonable overall.

The “all nations compete” angle has turned into more of a marketing ploy than anything else, though. And it’s marketing to enrich one person only. Obviously the marketing works well based on how many seem to equate a rider not going as being “unpatriotic” or not loving their country. That’s crap.

And while I have no doubt that Kawasaki is fine with their riders not going and even prefer that they not risk injury, both of those riders had enough leverage and demand when they signed their contracts that they likely could have easily gotten a clause that guaranteed support if they were chosen for the team. They either didn’t exert that leverage or they aren’t enforcing it now.

Take my upvote. Kawi made a business decision but that doesn't mean their aren't consequences to that decision. You do you man.

Its funny when you think about it.. the US riders that started the whole win thing are legends wherever they go . The original Honda Trio put together by DeCoster that came and shocked the world changed MX in a way that those who lived through it will never forget. Honda stepped up and made it happen. Kawasaki US underestimate the importance of the MXoN. And the riders that dont go remove themselves from ever being part of that elite band of riders that are prepared to stand under their flag for fans, and not for thier own bank balance.
