Lol this guy no bud straight from Chevy dealership. KBB on the car was 15,000 guess what the dealer had it at? 15,000. So I paid 15,000 plus ga state tax plus the tittle fee. They must be really good at hiding the fees then huh?

Oh really buddy. Why would you mention the KBB value of a new car? I was not even aware Chevy made a car for $15k....I’m impressed. Read the sticker, I’ll bet you $1k that there is a destination charge on it...providing it is new, and actually exists.

All the KKB new car guide does is give you a fair market range and has so many variables with options and markets etc. Its pretty much a worthless guide for new cars because it does not take in to consideration rebates, dealer hold back , dealer incentives, floorplan etc etc.

The bottom line is you paid the dealers full asking price but if you are happy with the deal then that is all that matters. Cool The only other thing worse than that is people who go and tell the dealer how much they want to pay per month, that is what is called "buying a payment" Salesmen love that and also the "no haggle low price" dealers, they prey on the weak and uninformed buyers.

I bought a 1970 Chevy LUV when I was 18 and I still don't know what I paid for it and don't want to know, all I know is I paid $214 a month for a long time. live and learn.

You think you could wait until the 2020's hit and buy a 2019 that's been marked down?

Dealers don't make squat on dirt bikes, I don't think most of them would sell them unless they had too.

Just a question for the OP, what do you do for a living?

I’m very happy with like I said the only think I don’t like about Motorsport dealers is there unfair fees and how they throw them on last min. It’s one thing to be looking at the tag and know what the price is gunna be after everything is done but when I see 10,000 on the tag and then he’s trying to get me to sign a 13,000+ tag makes no sense. Is it really 400+ dollars to put a tire and handlebars on? on top of a dealer fee that they don’t tell you really what it’s for? I don’t understand how this thread ended up like this I just wanted to know if I could buy a crate bike damn

I’m a aviation mechanic.

I could do a 2019 but I figured if I was gunna get a new one might as well get the newest and greatest

I see what you are saying but unfortunately that is how sales work, they can pull you in with a low price and then pad it as the deal goes on. I would check with some of the suggestion that some of the members have been giving you for dealers who will sell you a bike in the crate. There is nothing better than un crating it and setting it up yourself. Smile

The newest and greatest costs the most.

The reason people are giving you a hard time is because you are acting like it's the dealers fault you can't buy a bike in a crate. It's been explained several times why you can't.

I'm positive there is some markup and profit margin that's added to your wage at work. There is no difference between your employer adding money on top of your wage and billing the customer for it, and the dealer adding money on top of their wholesale cost of the bike. They have a lot of people to pay before they make any money.

Yea some guys gave me some good leads I’ll have to look into. And exactly I think that would be the coolest thing ever getting a brand new bike in the crate. Grab a few beers and go to work lol it would be such a good feeling and save some money. On top of knowing everything is done correctly. I’ve heard some horror stories about dealers setting up bike. Haha

I get dealers won’t do that but people are getting them so I just wanted to see where they were getting them and explaining why I don’t want to buy one from the dealer. I understand people have to get paid but I’m not paying 400+ for 30 mins of work to put a couple things on. On top of dealer fees which I don’t know what that goes to? I don’t do 30 mins of work and charge the airline for 40 hours. That’s what I feel like there doing

Good luck man! Find a dealer you can build a good relationship with and buy the bike. That’s worth a couple hundred extra bucks down the road. Especially if you some kind of freak mechanical problem right after you get the bike.

Ask your boss what your total billable rate is per hour.

You are most likely paying the same setup fee a guy buying a gold wing is paying. They average it out, lose money on the gold wing and make it on the dirt bike. I'm not saying it's right but that's how it is.

We charge 64 an hour. Doesn’t matter if it’s a delta plane or a small passenger plane. Now we do round up so if we’re there only for 20 mins we charge a hour but the customer is aware of this. We know how much we need to make to keep running and we make sure every customer knows exactly what they are paying for before the job even starts. Sure there might be a unexpected delay or problem but we take that hit to keep our customers happy.

My brother is a longtime dealer. He would even say $400 for set up is way too high. He sells bikes at his quoted price, plus tax and a $30 doc fee. There are still good dealers out there. You just have to look around.

I purchased quite a few bikes in the crate every year. Your higher volume or high level dealers will ship them. The lower level or volume dealers like to use the "Freight and Set up Fee' to make extra money. They also don't like to tell you any rebates at the time, so they will double dip. Call around and ALWAYS check the current rebates a manufacturer is offering so you don't get screwed.

Most tractor dealers around here charge $75-$100 per hr for labor. For an aviation repair company like the one you work for to only charge $64 per hr is a little hard for me to process but hey, if I ever get a plane I’ll have it flown to you guys to get it worked on! Woohoo
