Billy Ainsworth. I remember him coming up here to race the Nationals in the early-mid 2000's in a black van. If I remember correctly he was on a Manchester Kawasaki back then. Cool dude.

Does a 150 count? At 62 I'm getting a KTM 150 set up. Always riding 500's back in the day, I look forward to screaming this 150 like never before..

Use it as motivation to shed some pounds....unless you happen to be 6'2" and solid muscle it's possible to shed some LB's

I'm 6'3, 205lbs on a 2012 YZ125. It's fun on a hard pack or slightly muddy track. It dies in sand or proper mud. I love it though. It's what I end up riding 95% of the time.

Well... A porky 250 and my KX125 drags my fat ass around the track just fine. There's a dude at one of the local tracks at 300 pounds plus and he flies. It's all about having fun.

Thanks for the advice guys, sounds like i just need to pull the trigger and join the club.

I am 6'2 and hovering around 10-12% body fat. Not super lean, but getting under 190 takes a lot more work than Im willing to do. I'll play with the gearing and save it for the dry months

I had a ton of fun on my buddies vintage 125 at Glen Helen for the socal vintage classic.



I also picked up this desert monster a couple weeks ago. I'm in the middle of splitting the cases. It needs a lot of work. The whole thing is trashed.

I normally ride a CRF450, but once a year for the Farleigh Castle VMXDN I bring out my '88 125 Cagiva. Seeing as Farleigh is next month and I've been prepping it, here's a photo and a shot from last year. This will be the 6th time I've raced it there Smile . Love this bike, always makes me smile and it revs to the moon.

6'1 and 210lbs, the 125 is my favorite bike I have ever ridden! On tighter tracks I would say Im actually faster on it than on the 250.

Hey Fraser, is that Cagiva the original color? I only ask because I remember Cagivas being red. My friend had an '84 250 and it was red/gray.
Does yours have "Cagiva" embossed or stamped into every piece on it, like his did? I swear, the levers even read "Cagiva" on them!

Yes it does have Cagiva, or the elephant logo on pretty much everything. The last 2 years of production (88 & 89) they went white. 88 was white with black shrouds. 89 had blue graphics and a blue frame. Mine is an 88 but I've copied the blue graphics from the 89, like the factory 88 bikes had. Before 88 they were mainly red.

Bringing this back from 2019.....thinking about trying another 125. Raced a Yz125 last year and it was the most fun I ever had. Like an idiot I got rid of it because “it wasn’t fast enough to be competitive.” So I get a 2019 Yz250f, which is a great bike, but I’m still a 3-8th place guy in 40a but not having as much fun on a “faster bike.” So my question is: should I try another 125 but make it a KTM this time so I have a little more competitive of a bike, vs the Yz125, and smile away or STFU and keep riding my 250f?

obvious answer is get a 125. i dont know about you, but at this point in my life having fun is all it's about. Then again, i've never ridden a four stroke so i dont know any different. ktm vs yamaha who cares, just get whatever works best based on availability/price/ease of getting parts etc. I have a ktm but only because it's what I happened to find. you'll have fun on either.
