This is 90% of it.

Energy drinks. Bike colors. More titles or less. At the end of the day, the dude is in his early-mid 30s, chilling on the golf course most every day, living in a lakefront house with a wife and two kids, and shouldn’t have to work another day in his life. I’d say it all worked out ok.

I still hope his animosity towards the sport/industry fades sooner rather than later and he decided to be involved in some capacity. Just like when they raced together, maybe get in the announcing booth with RC and give him a run for his money.

Was it on Pulp that they mentioned Stew would’ve been given a significant portion of stock in Monster if he’d stayed with Kawasaki? They dropped some mind-boggling figure on what that stock would be valued at today.... way, way, wayyyyy more than whatever Red Bull was paying him.

But the way he completely ignored anything Monster-related throughout the season ended up being the nails in the coffin, as far as him remaining there.
Yeah I remember that conversation. I think the number was like 40 million?
Is that a legit number or are you joking?

Thats an insane amount of money if correct.

The Red Bull personal deal was huge bucks for Stewart in 2006, and he was worth every penny.

Kawi and Monster began their longstanding partnership in '07, Stewart remained under contract for another two seasons.

The move cost the sports premier rider millions of dollars in the prime of his career. Kawasaki wasn't too bothered with Ryan Villopoto in the wings. It was a risky gamble that paid off for them.

But you can't help but wonder what might have happened if they had been able to keep James happy. (my bet, another 3 championships - at least).
If James was able to ride ANY bike other than the 2010 and 2011 YZ450f he'd have way more titles.

I wish he couldve stayed on that 09 YZ450....I have no doubts that bike wouldve been unreal with efi added. I wish Yamaha had held off on the first gen backwards YZ450F and released the 14 model as their first attempt IN 2014.

That bike unfortunately for him and us killed his super natural spirit or his indian if you ask Jim Morrison. Laughing

No im not bashing the bike but it did rob us of a handful more spectacular years from James and I think RV and RD might not have made the mark they did if history qas slightly different ....

I took Hargrave's post to mean that the $40 million number is what the stock option would be worth today if Stew had taken it. Who knows, though, they may have actually thrown $40 million in actual stock at him (pretty stupid to turn that down if they did, though).

I seem to remember someone from Red Bull giving him or letting him use a Bentley to try and lure him over.

Yeah the amount of stocks in Hansens they would of given him would be worth something like 40 million now. I believe it's on the Las Vegas wrap up show this year. I'll listen tomorrow to see if I can find it.

Guess what.......your "Hope" of him being involved in the sport has come true.
Ever heard of 'Seven Gear"??
Ever heard of the James Stewart Spring Classic amateur motocross championships held every year at Freestone MX in Texas??

much ty. Having one's name on an event that they don't show up to isn't being involved. Having an ownership stake in Seven and giving input on the design of moto gear (if he still does that?) also isn't being involved in the sport, IMO. I've always been a huge JS7 fan, and still am. If he decides to stay away forever, that's certainly his prerogative, but I stand by my "hope". The guy has a ton to offer in terms of insight, advice, personality, etc. Two totally different people, but what RV2 is doing is a great example of being involved - and having fun - with dirt bikes without the pressure of racing/winning, which is something they both grew to hate.

Think it was higher more like 70-90 mill in todays stock price. I'd like to seen him stay on Kaw instead of changing bikes so much. Course Kawi would wanted indoor and indoor rides from him. Would been no Bubbas World and summers off.

If he came back in the same/similar capacity that RC and RV has that would be great for the sport, but this belly aching bullshit about how hard his life was and how miserable he was isn't a good look for him. I bet he's not belly aching now that he's the living on easy street, retired at 33 (or however old he is) while the rest of us nobody's might get to retire at 70.
