If someone is clearly faster than you (and in better shape) then yes, let them go by and latch on to them. Follow their lines and try to match their speed. Learn something. Don't just try to block them. It is easier to follow someone anyway.
Hindering a rider who is going faster than you just wears you out quicker and serves no purpose unless your hope is to make the person behind you crash or something.
Do you really think Webb thought he would hold off Tomac for the whole race? He finished 35 seconds behind Tomac and has faded badly at the end almost every race.
Last couple laps? Yea, a whole different story. Do what you need to do.

Interesting that Anderson said a tick off speed wise - probably correct. But that tick for another 15 minutes is the actual issue. Hence it might be better to actually follow the guy and see what he’s doing.
