This is the worst track I have seen professionals of this level ride maybe ever. A GP race deserves better than this. Plus you could potentially ride around and score 450 GP points. All the blame on GL.

Do you have to complete a percentage of the total laps to be classified ? I'll maybe give it a go next year Laughing

Gajser was lapping riders that used electric tape numbers... how they did get in if they dont have money for stickers?

Race was in another location but they changed over to this one... first track must have been pretty bad if track was reason for it. Its cool practice track build in 2 weeks but I would rather watch that 1997 track than this one.

I would love to see people with some extra cash line up for these events just for the hell of it. Get lapped 5 times and still score points Grinning if I ever win the lottery this should be on the bucket list.

Anstie seems to step his game up again when a couple of front runners are out. He has always been like that. His mental game could really use some work.

Looks like Gajser is on the way to his second MXGP championship.

The guy who finished in 17th is actually Coldenhoff’s brother in law. He rented a Husky there and got a licence and now he scored 4 world championship points. Funny fact, Van Nobelen was never a really talented rider and he stopped racing about 6 years ago. Now he is cruisin around with laptimes half a minute slower and finishes 17th. What a fukking joke

And some think this is the premier series. 🙄

Ansty is the Cal crutchlow of MXGP. Heart of a Lion. When he's on he can run with them when he's not he's mediocre. 1:35 lap times? That's called rinky-dink.

It pretty much happens with SX Mains, every time - What is it, 20 man or 22 man? Yes, there's heats and LCQs, but, they still have not a huge amount of riders out on the track, and, they are short, sharp races.

Now, before the squealing begins, here is what I think Luongos' attitude seems to be :

No ones interested in back markers, especially on TV. 'They', the casually interested 'fans', are only interested in the 'stars'. At least that is what the Organisers, TV / Streaming producers and Directors believe. How many times do you see riders not towards the front in broadcasts ( in any series) , when We know (or bloody well Should know), how talented all the riders are out there.

It's an attitude / trend ( that shits me ) that has come into so many motor sports. MotoGP, about 24 riders most times, WSBK has gone down that road too, and , others.

Luongo / Youthstream, has given travel assistance at the tiniest of levels for fly away, or even long distance races. Something like about 200 /220 kg and sweet FA in personnel flight and accommodation assistance. So, many highly skilled, incredibly fast Riders and good Teams, cannot afford to travel overseas, or, even to some of the distant European races. Believe me, European travel, to further away events like Russia, Turkey, or some of the Scandinavian countries, is much more difficult and expensive than it is for we who live in Big countries, like Australia and the USA. Yes, we've got vast distances to travel at times, but it's all in the one culture and country.

Though, Alaska and Hawaii are part of the USA, but I don't think we'll ever see Feld SX and DC's MX rounds in those states.

Heck, Luongos' / Youthstreams / Upfronts ( I think that's the new owner) wallets may have opened up, and there is better 'assistance', but the prick(s), if he or they have done so, don't make it easy to find. Just like so many of his / their other charges to compete in 'his / their' sport.

It sucks - I think , years ago, there may have been assistance for say, OZ and NZ riders to get to the 90's Indonesian GPs. I know a bloke that raced them, so if I run into him, I'll try to remember to ask.

It sucks to see riders who shouldn't be out there. Yet, Luongo seems to not give a damn, or just not realize how bad it looks. Just like he doesn't seem to realize how damaging his idiotic 'over / on 23, and you're out of MX2' is.

Keep in mind the amount of Riders and Teams that have not gone to some of the Canadian SX rounds over the years, based on costs. It's not cheap to compete, and, in the World Championships Of Motocross, it's incredibly expensive. And, much of that expense, goes to filling the Luongos, and the series new 'owners', bank balances, at the expense of so many others.

Oh, and do have a look at the entries in EMX125 and EMX250, that are at many rounds of the GPs. Regularly, recently, there'll be 90 / over 100 riders in each of those classes, trying to qualify for the 40 spots in those races.

Didn't read all of that, but aren't there supposed to be 40 guys on the GP gate? 20-22 on the SX gate is what's supposed to be there, that doesn't mean 20-22 guys showed up

As much as i hate these rounds in Indonesia and China (i understand the reasons, they make sense.), there are 100% logical reasons for what we saw this weekend.

The injury list right now is brutal. It would've looked way better even if 50% of the injured riders would have been on the gate. The days of 20 rider gates in GPs are in most cases gone (even in the fly-away rounds). And the trips to these places are crazy expensive, if many of the regular guys are hurt this is the result in these rounds.

But at least the next Indonesian race will be on a proper track that actually is worth being on the GP schedule.

The track looks like garbage but as above it's really the injury list more than anything that's the problem. So many good guys are out right now - tbh I can't will myself to buy many more of the remaining GP broadcasts. I shall certainly be watching Lommel as I love seeing those guys tackle the deep sand, but of course the injuries have hurt the drama surrounding the title stakes tremendously. It's mostly likely a Prado and Gajser show from here on out.

Hard to read a few paragraphs is it?

As for the amount of riders there is supposed to be, here's another thing Luongo tried / wanted, and strangely, still seems to want:

There's not supposed to be 40 riders on the gate, not in that bastards thinking. He designated / had legislated 30 rider maximum gates ( at the very least, for the MXGP class), a few years ago. He, just doesn't give a f**k about the riders, just his 'show'. That was, I think, enacted for a very short time, but, whatever stopped it, was good. Maybe the bastard thought, "well, if 40 riders are on the gate, it does mean more exorbitant entry fees I've just pocketed".

Understand, if you can, I utterly despise Luongo, and his rape of our sport. But, the racing should go to the markets that are buying bikes. Hell, those millions of small capacity bike sales, effectively subsidize 'our' trick Dirt (and Road) Bike models, that sell in only the tens of thousand, if we are lucky.

Luongo should be helping Teams, both big and small, far more, to get them to these necessary fly away rounds. The mongrel has talked about how it's the F1 / MotoGP of the Dirt world ; well, he should take in the level of travel funds those series give to their Teams and Competitors.

That Luongo doesn't seem to realize how bad such low fields look, well, it baffles me beyond belief. He's pig headed Cretin.

Once again, there's a few paragraphs for you to struggle through, but, if you read them all, you could learn a few things.

if the market demands a race like this off the sales numbers why was there minimal spectators?

I saw more people on top of buildings and perched in Trees than around the track, well except for where they pack the crews and their people in the structure.

What’s the point in going to these places? To grow the sport there? Hate these flyaway races, tracks are rubbish, low gate numbers & no crowds...

This week was a pretty boring track and it looked about as well attended as a Lorretta's qualifier.

That's lazy, Luongo level of lazyness. You can do better and start new thread. Whistling
