Beautiful girl. RIP Pepper. One of our dogs is also named Pepper.
I heard it said before that a dog will bring you the best years of your life, and the worst day.

I lost my 5 yr old pup to Cancer. Still hurts me more than losing my father. The hardest part of dogs is the short life span. Most people suck, dogs rule.

Yup. This loyal animal trusts you more than anything and you have to be the one that ends her life. Too hard for me to go through again. Rest well pepper.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts. This has been a very rough few days. How do you get through this?

The last few weeks have been the worst, lost my best bud to cancer on May 29th. Still don’t feel like it’s real. She’s waiting for you in doggy heaven

I would describe the feeling like I just got stabbed and am sort of just walking around still, you can’t ever replace them, but in a few weeks maybe adopt someone that’s sad and lonely at a shelter, I think about my buddy all day still

I got rid of almost everything in the house that reminded me of her. Medication, dog food, floor blanket. Didn't need the constant reminders. If I wanted to be reminded, I could always look at pictures. My daughter took her leash and tags with her. All this within a few days. It just takes time and other distractions. It never completely goes away though. It's been 6 years and I still think about her once or twice a week. It's somehow harder than losing other family members. Can't explain that.

Just lost my Shepherd to cancer too. Luckily I Have kept my mind off it a little more since we have our first baby on the way. It’s tough man, but you will soon just be able to remember the good times and the life you gave her.

I have never had a human look at me the way my dog does......I have never had anyone ever that acted like they just won the lottery every time I come through the door like my dogs do...... they would die for me without hesitation....I love em and they love me......So sorry for your loss......Tuff deal..The Rottie and the Bully are my treasures......the ones that are looking at me and not at the good food on that table...

Exactly what FLmxer said. (I can't express it any better.)
