If im right he also did A1 that year and got 2nd behind RV, next week he won as the video above is posted.

Did he break his collarbone or something the week after Phoenix and made him go home early to the GPs? Dont know for sure its already 12 years ago haha!

Amazingly talented guy.

Is he the most talented rider ever that didn't become a "great" in the sport?

I still think that 'honour' goes to Damon Bradshaw. Massively talented, a bunch of wins in a short period, only one regional SX championship.

Yeah that is a good shout but i feel like Bradshaw is regarded as a great by a lot of people even though he never got a big bike title?

I think a lot of that is just an emotional response because they liked his attitude and he did have an iconic style. In terms of race results it's a hard one. Nine wins in an sx season may be what tips him past being "very good" and into "great."

Yep. He raced SX in the US before he raced a single GP if I remember correctly. And actually he didn’t go back to race with KTM in the GPs, but a small Honda team. KTM picked him up mid season in 2009 when he started winning.

So you don’t think winning an mx2 title over Cairoli makes you a “great”?

I'm not talking about my opinion on him, i'm talking about the majority of the fans out there. I don't think that the majority of people see him as a great.

I called him one of the best one time and was promptly told to STFU, so I agree with you.

The guy almost won 4 American championships in a row and some fans don’t realize what an amazing racer he was. Coupled with his backstory, Poucel hits legend status in my book.

Does anyone remember when he called a young Barcia a “little keed”? I can’t remember which race it was, but I believe during 2010.

Bradshaw is absolutely one of the greats IMO. Anytime you are widely accepted as the best rider on earth (1992 mid-season, this was undeniable), I don't know how you wouldn't be considered a "great".

Imo Damon Did become Great in the Sport, He was The IT Guy after Ricky Johnson and Before Jeremy McGrath.
He was the Superstar even when Stanton and Bayle where winning the titles.

Almost doesn't make you a great. And neither do 250 championships.

Hes very talented but not even close to the greats.

Doesn't really get it. John Dowd: Legend - Christophe Pourcel: Loser. Dry Christophe was really paralyzed and came back to racing and won two championships. He also could've should've would've won a 450 championship if RV didn't insisted on taking Jake Weimer, because he didn't liked getting competition from inside the team, and if Kawasaki USA just told that straight up, instead of making up things to cover their asses towards Kawasaki Japan. That derailed his career. But those decisions also derailed the career of the man who took them! He got ditched very soon after his fuck up with Pourcel and Pro Circuit...

The attitude you describe in your first sentence is easily explained; ones American and ones not.

Yesterday he raced supercross in France. He finished second behind Soubeyras and in front of Aranda, Izoird,...

He would've won two 250 outdoor titles if his PC bikes didn't seized up.

As we say in France, "if my aunt had balls, she'd be called my uncle".

By the way, the first one was a mechanical, but he lost the other title all by himself in a crash.

If I'm not mistaken Mitch said that, that was also something mechanical. But like you already said, we also have that same saying and in some other parts in Belgium they say: If, if, if... If my uncle had wheels it was a car.

He pulled a hole shot at high point one year that was a mind blower. He had magic on occasion. Loved watching him ride.
