Based off of Covington's GP history, he should be on par with Lawrence or close. If he's injured, they should say so. If he's not injured, he's having a mental meltdown from hell. Adapting back to ama tracks isn't gonna be any big deal after racing GPs. This is weird.. If 250 class in the GPs were that weak, Lawrence would be back there outside the top 20 right along with him. He's quite a ways off from the pace he is capable of. Whatever the reason is (physical or mental), that's not all he's got and not his normal speed.

He looked far from comfortable on the bike the little you saw hin in picture. On that kind of track, he is usually a few spots ahead of Hunter and also lap time wise 1-2sec faster.

I'd be willing to bet it as some type of mental thing and you'll likely see him get better as each moto goes off until he gets himself back to where the expectations of him are. Confidence, or lack thereof, can be a bitch but I wouldn't call him a flop until he disappears from the scene.

Mike Brown floundered at his first shot with Mitch Payton and got punted back to privateer status and look at him now 25+ years later.

Once he completes a full GP season we will see where he ends up...
so how do Lawrence his results look now ? Tongue

He was a solid top 5 guy in MX2...he finished what 8th-9th overall today?

And Covington...making the AMA look good. That’s for sure.

Stop being stupid. The bike broke in the first moto and in the 2nd moto he was clearly the fastest. Im not gonna bitch about GP vs Ama. I think mx2 and ama 250 class are very equal in speed overall.

All im saying that something is up with covington. He was faster than Hunter most of the races last year. Looking at Covington in this race he looks like a completely different rider.

Put Lawrence on a KTM in his GP days and he would have been right there with Prado. Kids the real deal on a MX track, nice to see alot of him on the tv today.

It’s amazing how far he is from Hunter and Dylan, two GP guys he’s previously raced.

I feel bad for him, and have no idea what is going on, but seeing Hunter and Dylan top three won’t help his confidence either, especially when he was capable of beating Hunter in races just a few months ago and Hunter hasn’t really raced since Red Bud and been injured twice since!

Factory KTM/husky bike in mx2 is like cheating compared to the competition.

This is Covington 2 years ago. You can see Prado and Hunter fighting behind Covington and seewer. Does it look like he is the same rider today?

Have a look at Harrison’s results if you think MX2 is slow. Two of the top three came from GP in that second moto.

Covington is riding way below his MX2 level, you only have to look at how far he is off Lawrence (and Hampshire who he battled at the US GP in 17) to realise that.

You clearly don’t live in reality, enjoy your delusion.

What a completely disrespectful post for Tom’s achievements in the world championship. Disgraceful.

Troll? Youre making unsubstantiated claims. Provide sources. Theres been no word that hes “riding with an injury” as you claim. How is saying dont spread bs with 0 proof trolling, troll.. Tweaked his knee means nothing, it could very well be his setup, confidence, injury, sickness, mono, we dont know right now. Id like to know as much as anyone. Nobody knows right now, so again provide sources that hes riding injured or gtfo.

Whether it's a psychological or physical issue or both it's obvious Covington is not running near the pace he was in the GPs . Anyone using it as a case against the speed of the MX2 GP class is either trolling or just plain stupid.

Hunter and Dylan displayed way more potential in their time in MX2. Maybe you weren't paying attention. To claim that they should all have equal expectations is disrepectful to Lawrence and Ferrandis.

The argument that Covington is on his regular form but is otherwise being purely outpaced by the AMA series is ridiculous and, what ever little steam it had, ended today. It died with Hunter's performance...

Both series are utterly awesome, AMA 250s of course, but also MX2 GPs (not just MX1) is extremely fast and deep. Clearly Thomas is fighting some sort of drastic issue, because as a rider he's in a different universe to where he was (and where he should be) last year.

Your “source” is bullshit lol. Thats not proof of anything thats happening right now. It could be, or it could be something else, we dont know. Lol ur mad that you dont know just as much as I dont know the only difference is your saying you do know and getting mad about it. Until they come out and say what it is were in the dark right now. It probably is an injury... Id hope, cuz hes riding like ass, but what if its not? Why wouldnt they say anything... we dont know. We dont know, you dont know, I dont know, nobody knows, stfu.
