He would probably work 2/3rds of the members here. Good for him, looks like he had a blast.

Since there bending rules, I wonder if a privateer racing the 250 or 450 class would be allowed to race the 125 class too (providing his team/sponsors ok it)? If I read the rules right this is not allowable but it could bring in some "gooder" riders i.e. Steinke Smile .

Should be “run what you brung” as long as it’s a 125. In qualifying the top times that fill the gate capacity get to race and maybe those that don’t get 50% refund on entry fee.

Great. I think if you slacken the entry requirements a lot more riders with fast older 125’s will enter. If they qualify they obviously aren’t slow and adds interest.

If it’s that clean? I imagine they could make an exception for something like that...

Hey DC, why is there a limit on the years? Just curious about it. I don't think I've ever heard a reason why.

We didn't want guys out there on vintage bikes, making it dangerous for the guys flying around on current ones. It's supposed to be a competitive, fun exhibition race and we figured keeping it within three years of last model release would be a good guideline and let a lot of people enter, and also keep much slower bikes out. It's worked well so far.

Ok, but real 125 development stopped 20-25 years ago for most brands. Some brands the older models were more pro ready than their later models Doesn’t mean they don’t haul though.

I won't comment on some of the other thing's concerning the 125 race , but I really do dig that you'll make some exception's. For example , like a bike what Ferg posted. Even though older , can still be extremely competitive , and in some cases be in better racing condition then a new 17' - 19' chassis lining up. I mean hell , even a well kept mid 90's bike may rail the hell out of a track in the right hands.

Bought it from the original owner whom purchased it to follow his kid around the yard - fouled the plug and parked it for 16 years. Sold it to me with the nipples still on the tires so he could buy a new riding mower.

I don’t recall #1 getting lapped by RV in the helmet cam footage. Good for him!

Yeah I was gonna ask the same thing... yeah I get the reasoning.

As both a racer and a race fan though...it would be for me the most exciting thing to ever happen in this sport , if you brought back the 125 national championship.
No homologation rules whatsoever for at least the first 3 years to give manufacturers that are willing a chance to build a works bike or a hybrid from an existing 250f chassis or whatever, no stupid arse age restrictions..let anyone race...policies of exclusion are seldom productive , and no stupid homologation requiring excessive amounts of units available for sale forcing out the small manufacturers like TM or Gas Gas etc from participating...that one is really cruel..
I wouldn't care if the races weren't on the same day, same track or same weekend as the 250 ( sorry, the up to 250 four stroke only ) championship or the 450 ( sorry, the up to 450 four stroke only ) championship.
I just say build it and they will come, start small if you have to and let it take on a life of its own..
Yep, policies of exclusion seldom serve the greater good, they generally only serve a minority of selfish vested interests!

I’d rather see young riders racing 125s at national tracks than the silly, to me anyway, Loretta’s race as a proving ground. I can live with 4-strokes, but I do think there needs to be a 125 2t class for younger riders. Going from minis to a 250F seems excessive to me.

I can’t wait to see the 125s at Budds!

This doesn't look to be less than 3 years old (Since KTM still makes 2 strokes)
