Let's not act like they haven't had a history of being difficult. Every year there is some scuttlebutt being posted in the forum before the GH national – track design, cross track signage being placed over landings, bleachers, private VIP ticket sales... Gawd I'm not even there and i've heard plenty and this is even post them getting back together and smoothing it all out, which means you'd think they'd be working together.

I highly doubt MXsports was singling them out and making things unfair on them unless you're an octopus conspiracist.

Hey it’s ok for people not to go to Glen Helen and watch the race from home and they lose out on money because fans don’t show up but if Glen Helen wants to have a donation ride day and have it on TV so the riders can watch it then becomes petty. And people can camp all weekend because the SoCal OTMX is Racing on Sunday on the REM Track and the Number 1 rated National Track by Red Bull is open.
It’s my opinion both parties could have worked harder but it didn’t happen and that’s business and l hope Pala has a great National Race. Can’t cry over spilt milk. Nobody is forcing anyone to come to Glen Helen on that day they come if they want to.
It’s sad to blame Glen Helen ahead of time if the crowd does not show up because of issues PALA had in the past. That’s a lack of confidence in what they are trying to do. It’s the people’s choice. I suggest anyone and everyone go support the National Riders they have earned it.
How about a large part of the Industry can’t attend because dealerships are open on Saturday. That a lot of people work on Saturday they can’t attend. It’s not fair but that’s life right?

I support guyb 100%. As for the pala traffic, it's a way of life around here so an extra hour over the daily grind should not deter the locals.

Sir, IMO every motocross track in the region INCLUDING GH should be closed on Sauturday out of respect for the PRO riders.

Maybe I'm in the minority here ( as I didn't read any replies ).......but if I lived down there , I'd be there in a heart beat! Screw the live national , when I can get home after riding all day , I can watch it later that evening. I do that all summer long anyways. The only way I'm missing a ride day is if I'm over worked ( which I am right now ) or if the weather sucks ( which it does right now ) .

I know there is some animosity between GH and MXsports.......but seriously , who gives a shit? Go ride your brains out on an awesome track all day , then watch the motos when you get home. Who the hell " doesn't " do that?
I'm disappointed in you. Also, if
You lived here you could ride GH
any given weekend or Thursday. National in person is once a year. I thought you were CORE.

70 miles, 1.25 hours on a Saturday morning, 1.45 hours on a Saturday afternoon, 3.5 hours leaving after the national . Consider staying at Pala Casion and riding a bike to the track. Once it took me 45 minutes to go from Pala to Winchester avenue on a weekday at 5:00pm. I'm not complaining because that is normal.

You may have actually just persuaded me from buying a ticket to Pala with this post. When you work on other people's stuff all week so they can go ride that weekend, sometimes paying $40-$50 just to get through the gate to watch a bunch of other dudes ride is the last thing one wants to do. Then I see a smug post like this from someone running this site?

Props to Glen Helen for having this, I'll gladly pay more than the $10 donation to support the mentioned charity if I do make it up there and don't have to work. The Saturday that Pala happens to also be hosting the National isn't a sacred date, and other local tracks can still do things. I'd say even starting this thread calling them petty is more petty than anything Glen Helen is doing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, including you.

My opinion is that the sport’s too small to start raining on each other’s parade, and that it’s ill-timed. That’s all.

Maybe they wont take any spectators from the national, maybe they will. But i think the biggest issue is that the national would almost certainly take away a few potential participants from a charitable ride day.

If the number one goal of the organiser was to raise as much money as possible for charity, then they have errored in choosing that day, a day in which all of the industry and moto medias eyes will be on Pala. Or throw it on the day of the opening national, or the finale national, basically any other day where you're not splitting your target audience.

Its a blatant middle finger to Mx Sports and the national itself. If they want to stay open then go ahead and do it, if they want to raise money for a charity, thats even better. But the way they've done it is short sighted and arrogant.

I partied my A$$ off the last two years at GH. Bummed it’s gone this year. Epic track, will be back.

Alotta hate for Pala this year. I plan on going. I’ll beat traffic by taking my streetbike.

They need Flaggers. Email foxnationalflagging@gmail.com
If you’re interested. They need some more ppl to help out, sent me a second email today.

Sarcasm..........Right?

With Mr Info admitting that,"a large part of the Industry can’t attend because dealerships are open on Saturday. That a lot of people work on Saturday they can’t attend." it does make Glen Helen scheduling this event on the Saturday look kind of petty.

It was only done as an option for those who did not want to attend. Race will be on TV for riders to watch. Money raised for High Hopes.
Pala Casino will still be open, should the Pala Indians close the Casino to support the race?
I bet Milestone will be open. And Cahuilla as well but Glen Helen is the bad guy.

Some of you are so 100% buying in to the GH bs. It really does look like they are holding a free practice day just to screw MX sports and Pala over.
Many of you are already buying it with this "Hell yeah, screw the national I´m going for a free practice day".
So less attendees at the Pala national, less income and just overall less interest. Feels like GH is doing this so that the Pala national looks bad so GH has more leverage in the discussions in the future.

Might not actually be like this, but it sure as hell looks like it.

This event says so much without saying nothing at all. Life is one big elementary school yard. People get upset when nobody wants to play with them.

Cali can justify any shady activity these days it seems. ?This is moto politics clear as day. Should of picked another weekend to hold the charity. This weekend should of been an open practice and advertising for the following weeks benefit. That thing most are lacking now called common sense would say that Tom's charity will be limited to the amount of participants due to a national on the same day. If you can not see this you are sharp as soap and bright as night.
Thank you in advance for my first thumbs downs. But atleast you took them out of your mouth for once.

Since I live on the other side of the country I don't have a dog in this fight, but I can see there being room for both events. I don't think the Glen Helen "event" is going to draw away too many folks from the Nat, but I have no crystal ball and really have no idea. I guess we'll find out in a few days.

You all out there are spoiled. We haven't had a national anywhere near here for decades now. I will definitely be at WW no matter what else is going on.

Personally, I do feel this is Bud trying to give DC & MX Sports a giant middle-finger, so I hereby award him...

Let's take the outdoor nationals and can it down to a schedule that limits the racing to a made for TV package. Then complain that people quit going to the track to watch a condensed made for tv event. Dry

To hell with a 125 cc National Championship series that will help build the sport, there's no time in the TV schedule. Do you realize how much the TV crew costs? They do have to take smoke breaks and lunch.

CORE isn't spectating, it's riding. The most CORE riders I've ever known probably couldn't tell you who won last year's titles.

Glen Helen reminds me of Baja here in Michigan. Iconic venue that got itself drummed out of the series. A real shame imho.
