Has there been a definitive answer about whether Vital is "Social Media" or not? It was still being debated last I heardWhistling

That’s like googling to find out if you’re a millenial. If you have to ask...

based on how Dylan described it at the press conference, I don't think it was an inside joke...

It's social, with an anti-social element. I'm working on that. Evil

Agreed.
Yeah, sitting in there, he was clearly irritated by it...and maybe also motivated.

I've worked with Germans, french, Dutch, Japanese , British, etc. The only time I felt racism towards my person was an american guy. Not saying all of them are like that, but definitely many people in the US cannot stand foreigners. Good for Dylan to speaking up his mind.

This has always bugged me a bit. He writes for RacerX where he interviews Monster athletes. It is published as journalism but really it is just PR for Monster and I wish DC would just leave this stuff out, but I'm guessing if EJ doesn't do the interview then Monster will tell its athletes not to do RacerX. One particular interview a couple of years ago (with Barcia maybe), I called him out in the comments on RacerX because his questions were total softball, and of course he came back at me just bragging about how long he'd been a journalist.

I don't think it's nearly that. The term Douchebag was being tossed around in here a little too much, particularly by people that I think are just jumping on a bandwagon because they think it makes them look cool.

Who is saying I said those are "races", certainly I did not. Those are nationalities, and one person can be nationalist by supporting their country and fellow citizens without insulting it and making less someone, that is when nationalism leans to racism. I can assure I am not the only one with an experience like this.

Anyway, i won't discuss semantics here. Nationalities is a stupid concept to me, nobody is able to choose where to be born. However my biggest contradiction lies on the fact that I love MXdN, on which you need a nationality ?

Back on topic I hope for a AC vs DF showdown all summer. Should be fun

The comment was lame. It’s too bad Dylan doesn’t feel so welcome in the States. He came out on top and should be proud of what he accomplished.

100% going after Dylan on his IG was a super low class move by a so-called professional journalist/company rep, but considering the fact that he works for the all time Ultra Super Douche Monster bev co.... it is absolutely fitting to him.

And amazingly lame to do to any athlete wearing your fucking logo that just accomplished an incredible athletic achievement aka exceeding expectations at HIS job.

I agree 100% Joe. To me...

, This sport has always been a world wide sport. Meaning I love watching the fastest dude's on this planet face off with each other and battle hard on the track. I've also always enjoyed foreign riders coming over and doing our series. It makes our series stronger , we get better racing because of it , and we as fans always come out on top like that.

I'm a red blooded American through and through....and Dylan won that championship fair and square! He should be congratulated. Especially if you are one of his sponsors.......which makes it kinda weird seeing something kinda shitty from one of his main sponsor's.

I still don't get it. As in why was Eric saying anything negative?

Agreed.

I don't have the instasnap, so can't see any of the replies but it'd really take a lot to justify what it looked like and the "backstory" explanation just sounds like a sorry excuse.

Too bad, because Johnson has reported on some iconic moments in the sport and it's hard to imagine him doing something this silly/petty.

The thing is that Nationalism is pride about ones country, wheras racism is hatred of another race.

Their needs to be a word that describes 'Hatred of anyone from another country, culture or religion than what I consider American'

What is that word? Because thats what he felt and meant, nationalism has a kind of psuedo positive context as 'love for america' and he did not feel 'love for america' he felt 'hate for not being american'. Nationalism or Racism does not describe. I do think the actions and feeling of racism does more closely resemble it 'Hatred of anything that is not my tribe'.

He didnt feel nationalism, what did he feel?

This country isn’t very pretty sometimes. Other times it produces great people. It’s a place of conflict due especially to our multiple outward differences clashing with our egos. At the same time, those differences lay the groundwork for a mutual understanding that other countries don’t necessarily experience in the same way. Being born into lies is difficult, but we're a community of pretend groups who can and will transcend our tribalism and nationalism. We’re made to think in terms of differences by media, politicians, powerfully sinister types, each other’s boring groups, our friends and families, etc. but it isn’t real and it isn’t kind. I was born here by force, but I welcome Ferrandis in America by choice. Great job this year, champ.

Pointing out Xenophobia, calling someone a Xenophobe etc etc just has no weight to it. I swear 99.9% of people will have zero negative thoughts of someone labelled a Xenophobe. Which is really fucked up, because its just as fucked up as racism.

Why did a bunch of posts get deleted?
They seemed like about a 3 on the “idiotic Vital posts” scale.
