I was wondering what others use to listen to music while riding, I saw a thread on this already but it was 4 years old, so I thought it would be a good idea to make an updated thread

I use remote headphones and I have a set of fly gear with a cell phone pocket. I only do it when I ride a local track that I’ve ridden 1 million times. Hate to complain but it gets old after a while. Music steps it up and you just get in a flow and it’s awesome.

Sounds sketchy to me. My brain is pretty distracted with the whole riding thing while riding.

iPod Nano with wired EarPods. I let it dangle in my jersey.

I don't need music. I ride a YZ250. That's all the music I need Wink

That’s a good idea. I currently use AirPods but am looking for a better solution

I've never had the desire to listen on track, but have done so on extended rides in Costa Rica. Dirt roads + dirt bikes + reggae music = zen. I have Shure SE215s (Amazon) and would just run the cable through my shirt to my phone in my pocket. They also have bluetooth versions now. The nice thing about these (or others of similar design) is that they are basically squishy, foam earplugs with holes in the center for the music to come through. I like wearing earplugs when riding anyways, so these are perfect for me.

I use the SanDisk Sansa ClipSport player. They have good audio quality and a long battery life. Load your music and put it on shuffle. It has built in memory and also takes a micro-SD card like your cell-phone and the popular action cameras.

The earbuds I use are made by SoundMagic, they are the E10 model. I use them because they are inexpensive and have great audio quality.

In the past I used the V-Moda Vibe earbuds. The SoundMagic are equal in sound quality but far better in durability.

If you can find a SanDisk Sansa Clip-Zip player, those are better than the Clip-Sport, but they're discontinued. The clip sport has a bigger color screen, but the Clip-Zip had a faster interface and you could put on custom software like RockBox.

I was going to come in here and say something original, but Donman beat me to it. Then I scrolled down to your post and realized I'm not even the 2nd guy to say the same thing. Braaap sure sounds like music to my ears.

Friends say it would distract them and they'd crash whenever it comes up in conversation.
In fact, I find that it keeps my mind from wandering and I crash less often.

When you're riding for a long practice moto, there's no race to think about, so the intensity is way down, even if you're going 100% speed.

That's when my mind wanders. I tend to start thinking about other things like projects I'm working on in my shop, changing the oil in my moto van, or other random stuff. Music seems to keep enough of my brain occupied that my mind stays on the track in front of me.

I've never listened to music in a race situation and I don't think I ever will, but I do wear ear-plugs.

Exactly. It keeps me more focused on the track. And I can push harder without even noticing.

I think it depends on the person, I remember Travis used to race with headphones in..
I wouldn’t for MX but trail riding or something not too intense, why not!?

I’ve actually never thought about it, but my mind does wander all over the place whilst I’m riding. Crf 250s don’t provide the most exciting soundtrack so I’ll give it a go might be a whole new revelation!

If you need music to focus, youre not riding hard enough, not having enough fun on the trail or mud, or simply just not that into riding or maybe you need Adderal.

Riding with earphones is flat out dangerous and probably illegal in many places.

I have a nice stereo on my Harley and listen to music on long rides over the open air speakers so I can hear the sounds around me. I wouldnt put in headphones on or off the road, maybe on my MTB if doing a long ride alone.

I consider it dangerous to ride while listening to music.... some of those little rattles can turn into big ones which can turn into a locked up engine, and all that in a hurry... you don't get much warning most of the time before something breaks, but I'll take any audible warning I can get....

but Mostly I just love the sound of an engine!!!!

I ride a CR500, so that’s all the music I need.

But maybe when I go electric, and I will one day, I’ll give it a try.

If we ever get to a point where we are forced to go electric, I'm downloading 2 stroke and 4 stroke sounds on my IPod and that's what I will listen to while riding.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you listen to some of the best who have ever raced a bike, they'll tell you that on your best days you feel like it's easy, as if it's almost effortless to go fast. Not just moto, but other high intensity sports too.

I may not set the world on fire, but I've gone from a novice at age 28 to a decent self taught 30+A racer at age 38... Most of that practice time was with earbuds in my ears learning, focusing, having more fun than an ADHD kid could shake a stick at.

Ironically you're promoting the idea that riding while on drugs as a safer alternative to a little music. Dizzy
Yeah...keep prescribing pills to people, that strategy is doing all kinds of great things for our society bud.

I use the Stanley Bluetooth Headphones. They work perfect. I love listening to music while I ride/race, takes the edge off of hearing bikes around me. I can hear my bike fine while hearing the music.

I really don't like the idea of people doing this in moto. I want people on the track at the same time as me to be focused on having a good time and getting home safe. Anything that could potentially distract them is not good imo.
